“Fantastic house - highly recommend!”
Reviewed 7 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Can only say positive things about our stay! Just came back from a lovely weekend with 7 family members. The house is fantastic, so much bigger than we all thought. We were welcomed by Peter and shown around in detail by Jackie (who left lovely welcome gifts too - an added bonus!). Both their hospitality was wonderful and were willing to go above and beyond to make our stay memorable. There's a fully stocked kitchen (with everything you could possibly need!), gorgeous grand dining room, amazing snooker room and 3 other lovely living rooms/areas. The bedrooms perfect too - a lovely touch having slippers and dressing gowns along with toiletries. Lots of information in the tv room for activities and walks to do around the local area and the Lake District (Ullswater was a 20/30 mins drive away). Plus it was only a minute walk to the local pub. We wished we booked for longer - a 3 night break wasn't long enough! Thanks again Jackie and Peter!

Thank you so much Catherine for your kind remarks and we're so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Great Asby. Even though the village is off the beaten track it's just 20 minutes from both the M6 and the A66. And although the Lakes and the Dales (which we're halfway between) are both stunning it can be lovely to get back from a day out to a peaceful village where we've never yet seen a coach! We hope you'll find another reason to come here again. Thanks again for taking the trouble to write a review. Kind regards, Jackie and Peter Lambert.

We have just returned from a wonderful 3 night, long weekend at The Old Rectory celebrating my husbands 60th birthday with our 4 grown up children, their partners and 2yr old granddaughter.
What can we say! The house is a fantastic place for a family gathering & surpassed all our expectations. As soon as you enter the beautiful hall with its open fire and sitting area you immediately feel at home. The kitchen with its 'range' oven and extra long dining table accommodated us all comfortably on the Friday evening while we shared our evening meal. Plenty of space for us to 'spread' around if we wanted and a large enough 'parlour' for us all to be together for party game and laughter. We had the large four poster bedroom with en suite, which was fantastic. All bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully furnished. Everyone commented on how comfortable beds were! Toiletries and dressing gowns/slippers were an unexpected surprise. The stone arched dining room was terrific for our celebratory meal and the TV room allowed a bit of 'chill out' time. Garden areas with picnic benches for Al Fresco dining. Spotlessly clean throughout with crisp white bed linen & towels. The owners Jackie & Peter live within the grounds and can't do enough for you, such a lovely friendly couple who want you to enjoy their former home, and we did without a doubt! Thank you for the lovely welcome pack and ready prepared fires, which added ambience to the whole celebration once we lit them. Definitely 5* accommodation. Great Asby is a lovely village, so quiet and peaceful with a local pub which has a beer garden, lots of walks & easy access to Appleby.

Mike and Family, thank you so much for this. We're new to Trip Advisor holiday lettings and we set out to make the Old Rectory a place where friends & family can relax and celebrate over 3 nights or longer. Your generous review suggests that thanks to a unique house in a picturesque and unspoilt part of Cumbria we're able to offer the peace and space that guests like - and at a reasonable price! We are so pleased you enjoyed yourselves and we hope you will come back to Great Asby. Kind regards, Jackie & Peter Lambert.
