My husband, daughter and I enjoyed our stay at Forget Me Not Cottage so much in April 2017 that soon after we were back home we booked our return visit for Easter 2018.
Since our last stay, Penpethy Cottages has been taken over from Mandy (who was so lovely to deal with and we were sad to hear that she was leaving) by Gareth and Sandy in January 2018. They also responded to emails prior to our arrival very quickly.
As returning guests we were a little concerned that with the change of ownership our holiday may not of had the same feel about it – we couldn’t have been more wrong!! From the first contact with Gareth and Sandy our minds were put at ease that our holiday experience was to be just as we hoped. The cottage is still exactly the same and has that “homely” feel to it, with the extremely comfy bed that was perfect after a day of exploring. My daughter (age 6) also found the sofa bed a fun addition to the holiday.
Our original attraction to Penpethy was because of the location as you are within easy reach of the local beaches, shops, pubs, walks and central to explore up and down the coast and of course the fantastic beaches in North Cornwall.
I have been holidaying in Cornwall since I was a little girl and for over 30 years, I have to say that this is one of the best places in the world to visit. I have stayed in various cottages over the years but this is the first one that I have returned to due to the relaxing holiday feel you have in a great location.
We were welcomed by Gareth who was lovely to meet and you still get the amazing cake (homemade by Sandy) on arrival. Penpethy is definitely worth the visit to try the delicious lemon drizzle cake which went lovely with a cuppa.
During our stay we did encounter some issues with the shower on its first use (following the winter break) with the water pressure and heat adjustment which was quickly dealt with my Gareth and due to the efficiency of this being resolved this did not affect the enjoyment of our holiday. This was also one of the times which proved that Gareth is always on hand whenever needed, he was also happy to keep topping us up with supplies for the log burner when required.
We were yet again sad that our holiday at Penpethy had come to an end. We will be looking to book here for 2019 as soon as we can. We most definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a fantastic location and looked after by the lovely new owners – good luck both and we will be in touch to book again.
Thanks so much to Sandy and Gareth for making our stay so special. We love coming to Cornwall and have found such a lovely place at Penpethy.
As well as the wonderful surroundings and the beautiful clean, tidy cottage, it's the little things, like the lemon drizzle cake on arrival with tea and milk, that Sandy and Gareth did that made our stay so fantastic.
Will definitely be booking again and can't wait to go back soon.
