We stayed for a week in Buttercup cottage and I'd recommend it highly. We were greeted by Gareth who gave us a friendly tour of the cottage and the grounds and delighted to find a lemon drizzle cake, handmade by Sandy, waiting for us in the kitchen. The cottage is spacious and cozy and was very clean and tastefully organised. A big bath was perfect for a soak after long walks. It was very quiet - something you can't always guarantee when booking online - and we slept very well in a king sized bed that was comfortable. The location of the cottages was perfect for us - being a ten minute drive from Tintagel village and near to other places such as Boscastle, Bodmin and Bude. Gareth was helpful in suggesting good local places to visit and happy to have a chat but also left us alone (which was perfect for us as often wanted to just chill when we got back). There's an HD tv in the lounge and decent wifi. I wanted an extension lead for an Apple TV I'd brought with us and Gareth very quickly obliged. A bulb blew in a bedside light and again Gareth fixed it straight away for us.
Overall, it was a lovely place to stay and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Very easy to get (although our sat nav was playing tricks, but old fashion paper map is always handy). Beautiful location, quiet and private. Four cottages in a row, all smartly run and with everything you need. Just name it - kitchen, beds for 4 people (plus sofa), log burner for these who need additional heat, decent size bathroom (we had no troubles to wash our 2 half-wild kids after the day at the beach). It is also very comfortably located - 3 miles to Tintagel, 3 miles to Camelford with A39 crossroad, shop, petrol station. Nearest beach is Trebarwith, less than 2 miles away, with awesome sand at low tide and stunning views at high level of water. Perfect for families and dog owners (there is a field where you can have an early morning runaround with your furry creature).
Sandy and Gareth, who run the place, are the most welcoming and helpful people. They also know the area, we followed their recommendation for beach trips and trekking spots and haven't been disappointed (I wont share these locations here, you got to ask on your own:))
My family and I recently spent a week in the buttercup cottage. After searching for places to stay in Cornwall we came across penpethy farm cottages and We're so glad we did! The place was lovely, clean, tidy and well kept. There was plenty of info on activities and attractions as well as discount vouchers all presented in a welcome pack in the cottage. We also received a very warm welcome from the owners Mr and Mrs white. They both took the time to make sure we were settled in properly before offering my two young boys the opportunity to feed the chickens, Dora and Beyonce!! They loved it!! Mr and Mrs white were lovely and at hand should we have had any issues, they also checked we were ok whenever we crossed paths as well as helping us out with local directions and places of interest. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will be booking again soon.
I don't write many reviews but I feel the effort that Sandy and Gareth made to make myself, family and dogs welcome, deserves recognition.
It's often a struggle to find good dog friendly accommodation, but I have discovered a gem in Penpethy Holiday Cottages in Cornwall.
When we arrived we received a warm welcome from the owners. We found home made lemon cake (which was delicious), a bowl of dog treats, freshly laid eggs from their chickens and basic supplies i.e. milk, tea and coffee waiting for us.
We stayed in Buttercup, a very nice clean and comfortable one bed cottage. Plenty of living space with a log burner in the living room which made for very cozy evenings.
They have a large field to walk the dogs first thing prior to days out. The beach is only 5 minutes away in the car and Tintagel is only a couple of miles along the road.
Our stay was very enjoyable and we will definitely be back.
