the wife and i stayed here recently by chance and could have had better. the position was protected by the weather but within a 20 second walk you were at the harbour entrance. quaint attractions all round including some great hostilleries. bark house is great, quaint tastefully done out with everything you need for a well earned break.no niggles nor complaints.will defo book again.thanks

“Absolutely gorgeous”
Reviewed 13 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed at Bark House for a week and it was everything we imagined it would be. The cottage was beautiful and so homely it had everything you would want. Port Isaac was also beautiful. The local pub was a minutes walk down a back alley where we unexpectedly met the owners of Bark House and their son who were also as lovely as their cottage. We would definitely go back again.

“Excellent location in the Village”

Bark House is only a few metres from the water front and even better only 1 minute walk to the local pub and restaurants. It is a very comfortable 2 bedroom 2 storey rental. beds, shower and lounge all very comfortable. WIFI is excellent. Harbour holidays based in Padstow who manage the house were also extremely helpful and supportive re our rental. Many thanks Jill. We were also blessed with the filming of the Doc Martin series happening at the same time. They were even filming outside our door which made the experience even more special. There is no parking with the rental however the coastal car park is a short walk from Bark House. On a sunny morning it is one of the most stunning walks with great views over Port Isaac. The cost is 5 pound for 24 hours. However when we arrived back after touring we just paid for one hour at around 5.45pm that then gave us a credit of 45 mins in the morning allowing us to get back on the road just before 10 am to explore more of the unbelievable Cornwall coast. The only issues with the rental is some of the kitchen utensils, cookware etc need upgrading also the clothes rack was broken. It has no dishwasher so a number of the glasses and plates needed cleaning before use. The Kitchen needs a bit of an upgrade as a little dated. The dish drainer was very tiny and unsafe when using. Also dinner place mats need replacing as very badly stained etc. All these are the responsibility of the owner who has failed to make relevant upgrades. These are minor issues however to maintain a 5 star rating need attention. Would have no hesitation in staying again.

“A tasteful relaxing home from home”

Perfectly situated this little gem of a retreat is far enough off the beaten track to be private, yet only 25 yards or so from the centre of the village, tranquil and tastefully decorated through out with a lovely bright bed room, and a hot powerful shower which was an absolute god send after walking from tintagel ( not to be under estimated ).
The. Bark house is a lovely place to spend a week and to return to after a day on the rugged coast ,or after a rattler too many in the pub.
We shall return! Of that there is no doubt.

“Quite simply, perfection.”

I have stayed at this wonderful cottage on numerous occasions and will continue to do so, I'm sure, for many years to come. At the heart of this pretty fishing village, Bark House offers a tranquil, beautifully presented haven. The owner clearly has a perfectionistic streak, with lovely attention to detail throughout. It has always been immaculately clean and the little sea related details add to the charm. Now I have found Bark House, I wouldn't look for anywhere else to stay in Port Isaac....wonderful x
