There are two main beaches and one that can be walked to easily at low tide but a scamble when the tide is in. The beaches are a combination of sand, some shingle and rocks. The main beach by the car park and cafe is genlty sloping and great for swimming. You would have to be a long way out to be out of your depth. The beach faces South so not much shelter from the sun so bring your own. There is a busy beach cafe (though I would recommend the nearby Smugglers Rest for food) which also sells items and looks like they rent canoes. There are toilets and a modest sized car park which quickly filled, there were quite a few people parking on the road. Access to the bay is down some very narrow lanes with limited passing places so make sure you know the width of your car and can reverse. We were there on a weekday but it was still surprisingly busy. Dogs are allowed and meant to be on a lead though not many of them were observing this. We had a great time and plan to return another time.

Lovely little bay with rock pools. Ice cream from the cafe was delicious and the little beach huts to sit in were cute

Narrow roads to reach the beach but once there it is well worth it. Lots of exploring for children. Great views. Pay and display carpark

Nice place to visit after coastal walks but don't expect fast service or a wide variety of food. Only accept cash payment so be prepared as no cash point near by.
