The view alone is worth the price of the ticket. I kid you not, we could have sat at that picture window looking at the boats all day long and we almost did. The WiFi worked perfectly, the TV worked perfectly (we love to watch Brit programs every night), the kitchen was outfitted with everything you could ever need and thankfully had a French press for coffee as we use one every day at home. A previous reviewer had remarked on the noise from the construction next door - we loved the guys working there and watched them, glad that we didn't have to do it! We waved and they waved...it was a love fest. NO problem and besides, they'll be done soon on the outside and everything will move indoors. The tub and shower in the large bathroom were a bit of a pain but we travel an awful lot and while this is not what we would choose, we worked around the very large corner tub (size of a jacuzzi) and for me only being 5'1" it wasn't the easiest thing to get in and out of but I came to terms with it and with the shower. As Americans we're used to showers blasting out but this never happens in the UK. Ah well! Won't keep us from going back year after year! Rent this house - you will NOT be disappointed!! The view alone and the comfort in that living room is all worth it. Comfortable Queen-sized bed too!!
Loved our stay here. The house and garden are great with stunning views of the marina and easy access the the water, which we made the most of by paddle boarding most days. The games, table football and darts were a lovely addition and made for a very entertaining time.
Ideally, for a house that sleeps 6, it could benefit from a second bathroom/shower, but no real issues.
We are having an amazing time. The location is perfect. The view and garden is stunning. The kitchen is very well equipped - we have even been baking scones!
Lots of board games, puzzles, a few ps3 games and dvds to keep you entertained as well as sky tv.
Walk into Falmouth is reasonably flat and about 15 minutes.
So much to do and go from here - ferry to st Mawes, the beaches in town, the castle etc - we will definately come back.
Note there is some building work next door but it hasn’t been loud or bothersome. Also bedrooms are on the other side of the house if you are worried - we honestly have not heard any noise in the morning.
We stayed here for a week with my 97 year old dad as a relaxing getaway, as he has recently been widowed.
On the weekend it was lovely and peaceful and hot, so we had lovely BBQ’s in the garden, however come 0745 Monday morning the building site next door really got really noisy....so we couldn’t sit out in the garden during the day...all of the rest of the week....not what we expected or appreciated.
The garden is NOT wheelchair/elderly/infirm friendly at all, as the last reviewer said the handrail had rusted off and was held on by a piece of rope! I was constantly worried that my dad would fall down the steps, so I had to make sure we were always there to help him. Also the steps down to the garden had no handrails..there was a really steep slope one side...not ideal.
The bathroom is no use at all for disabled/elderly/infirm people...how are they supposed to get in and out of the bathtub? I had to take my dad to the marina for a shower!
It is also pretty dated in places,as the last reviewer stated. The other worry was the really low windows, luckily we didn’t have any children with us because they could easily fall out of the windows in the bedrooms, in fact my dad was worried he might fall out trying to close his window.
The location was great and the views stunning, but everything was marred by the building site and lack of facilities for the elderly/infirm/disabled visitors.
It seems that a block of flats is being built next door...so the work will be going on for quite some time...such a shame.
The location of this bungalow is great, and the view is fabulous. We spent a week here in early June and had it not been for the building works next door it would have been a lovely holiday. The weekend we arrived we spent the afternoons in the garden, but sadly all that changed by 7:45 am on Monday when the diggers started up. The problem being that the house next door has been demolished and groundworks are underway for a new development.
This may not matter if you’re a family planning to be up and out every day exploring, but our holiday was with our elderly parents and we had selected this property specifically with the intention of spending afternoons in the lovely garden. The noise and the fumes made this impossible and we ended up having to stay out all day or sit in the bungalow with the windows and doors shut.
The kitchen is large, modern and well equipped, although the coffee machine and the coffee grinder weren’t working, we just used the cafetiere. The lounge is welcoming with an amazing view; the furniture is fine although a little low if you’re elderly or infirm. The bathroom felt rather dated with a corner bath which was quite awkward to climb into to access the electric shower, there also peeling wallpaper so could probably benefit from an update. Two of the bedrooms were fine, but the master bedroom had a few issues, the mattress on the king bed frame is actually a smaller size so if you’re used to a king bed you’d be better off in the twin beds pushed together for a bit more room. There was also mould in this bedroom which I think another reviewer has previously commented on. Also a word of warning the handrail for the steps down into the garden isn’t attached to the wall so take care.
