Me and Emma have just completed the sandstone trail, all 34 miles over 2 days, 17th / 18th March. It's was more like a tough mudder!! A tough couple of days but we done it, 19 miles the first day with us ended at the pheasant Inn and 15 miles on the Sunday ending in Whitchurch. Over the 2 days much to enjoy but the overall memory will be fields and more fields of mud!! Just making it a really tough experience. When you start this journey it's something you have to finish. Not many places you can call it a day and have someone come and pick you up. Sounds like I'm complaining but I'm not. The fact we finished it all especially with not just the under foot conditions but also having to compete with the beast from the east 2 will stay with us for ever.
If it's in your budget stay at the pheasant inn, we didn't but should off. Take plenty of provisions because their are little if any places to buy a snack.
Walk it when their has been a long dry spell!!
When you start each day their is no turning back.
It might sound like I'm being negative but I'm not. Me and emma haven't done a walk like this before and their is no doubt the weather conditions made it so much more harder than we expected. However we completed 34 miles in 2 days and this experience will stay with us for ever. We might even do it again, definitely in the summer when bone dry and definitely stay over night in the pheasant Inn.

Lovely location and lots of different walks to suit most people. We are experienced walkers so managed to see various areas of the trail. Would recommend this trail for most people, also good for dog walkers.

After watching Favourite Walks we were inspired to try a section of the trail & were not disappointed. On a cold & snowy day the paths were a little tricky but the views made up for it. Well signposted & our section around Rawhead was not too strenuous.

This is a brilliant walk, high up with the most amazing views. It's well sign-posted and you can get on and off at various points along the way, with good car-parking if needed. Some high climbs and steep drops so not really suitable for those with mobility problems but some parts have got good acccess for an easier stroll, perhaps with a pushchair or wheelchair.

We have done the whole trail in bite size walks as we are Sunday strollers as opposed to hard-core walkers. It is a wonderful pathway through beautiful Cheshire.
