Arrived quite excited heard so much about the zoo we planned a trip to Chester centred around coming to the zoo.
Entry £43 approx for 2. Didn’t like the fact they almost causally donated another 10% to a charity, muttered under her breath about it, when I asked she clarified I said no, cheeky. The price should be the price, that’s as bad as adding gratuity without permission in a restaurant.
Inside a decent sized park, space. Monorail broken, but even if you want it it’s additional charge, really,
Viewing areas overun with overgrown greenery, and where I am all for being able to provide habitat for animals provided limited viewing for most vantage points.
Trying to see black rhinos and fellow visitor with wheelchair visitor that could not see, overgrown shrubbery.
The zoo was deserted, lots of closed areas and from about 3pm seemed they were packing the animals away.
Managed to see elephants, red panda, giraffes. black rhinos and few other things. Lots of manky glass, should be cleaned more regularly. Poor signage and the app was not very easy to follow. Nothing to write home about.
Sorry Chester not for me, left disappointed.

On arrival at zoo was disappointed that man checking tickets was moaning about some of the visitors and asked us to wait whilst he carried on moaning to colleagues. Not a good welcome. The disappointment ended there. The zoo is amazing. Staff and volunteers very knowledgeable and helpful. The animals were all relaxed and happy. Orangutans and elephants are my favourite animals but I now have anteater added to the list. The new island is useful for the younger generation as it gives insight into other parts of the world and gives a modern twist without being tacky. Plenty of refreshment areas all around zoo. Zoo is easy to find with lots of parking. I will visit again and would recommend a visit as it is suitable all ages. Every part is easily accessible.

A really lovely place for a day out, however not particularly wheelchair friendly. All of the paths are level and smooth, the main problem is that the fencing round the outdoor. Animal compounds are entirely the wrong height for a person in a wheelchair, my wife had to either bend down or stretch upwards to be able to see into the enclosures . At least a carer is not charged for entry which is excellent. For able bodied people it is a brilliant day out , be aware that it is a huge place and involves a lot of walking.

Hadn't been to Chester Zoo for a while and was really impressed. Apart obviously from the animals, the grounds are well kept and I loved the information boards by the animals which gave lots of information. It was good to see how the zoo is supporting environmental issues, such as the Palm oil project and Act for Wildlife. A fabulous family day out.
