Description: The Ancient Shepherds is a Free Hold, Free House in Fen Ditton, a beautiful traditional pub just a short walk from the river Cam. We reopened on June 1st 2017 after an extensive makeover. We pride ourselves on fresh food, good wine, great beer and an eclectic gin selection. We have six taps offering a variety of craft beers and lagers. We have three hand pumps serving Woodfordes, Adnams and Nene Valley Brewery (GF) We have a wonderfully rejuvenated beer garden where you an relax in the shade or sun. We take bookings by phone or email.

We called here a few years ago in similar circumstances, so knew of it's location which is a little off the A14. Not disappointed as our light lunch of whitebait was delicious. No alcohol because of driving, but service and quality of food very good. A lovely old building. We shall call here again hopefully next time we are passing.

We attended a small group celebratory lunch. The atmosphere was very convivial but the food was very average with a limited menu. Perhaps the chef had the day off?

Continue to visit our new local and not disappointed yet. Had a great lunch after the Fen Ditton 5 mile - pulled pork sandwiches and chips a bargain. Friday night fish and chip takeaway a great idea and what better than a very good pint of dry hopped lager whilst u wait.

Thurs night steak night always a favourite too.

Well keep coming back to a warm welcome from friendly staff. Fantastic!

The Ancient Shepherds is my local and it is so nice to see this great little pub gaining popularity again after a few years in the wilderness!
We have been twice recently for a meal with friends and I felt the pub deserves a big thumbs up from me. There is a great menu choice which is reasonably priced, lovely staff and a really good chef.
The fish and chips were cooked to perfection, the scotch eggs and salad really tasty and my favourite rhubarb crumble and custard got top marks. Great garden to sit out in the sunshine with a drink and dog friendly which is a bonus for us.

Moved in to the street 3 months ago and we just keep coming back. The rump steak is fantastic, as good as more expensive cuts particularly with the cognac and white peppercorn butter - a bargain on the Thursday steak night. Currys alternate Thursdays with the quiz also great, love the pulled pork version. Ribs, pies, burgers, Sunday roast all fab and lunch sandwiches huge and great value. Super beer selection, especially the adnams dry hopped lager and good wine and gin selection. Friendly service. And free retro sweets to finish
