A lot of pictures and information about North and South Pole. You need max 1 hour. Ladies on reception were really nice.

Thank Katja G

I really enjoyed seeing this museum and learning more about Scott and Amundsen and the other Arctic and Antarctic explorers. The design of the museum is simple and pleasing. I particularly enjoyed seeing the kayak, original photos of early expeditions, and the explorers original gear - especially their very inadequate clothing. Allow around an hour for your visit.

We went as the kids were studying the Arctic/Antarctic at school. The Museum isn't huge but very informative. Lots of information on Shackleton, with a lifeboat replica outside.

I cannot speak too highly of this museum. I've visited it independently many times - it is absolutely fascinating especially the many personal 'human' items on display but I've arranged several times to take parties of kids there. Polar exploration is not studied in schools (more fool them) and thus kids are fascinated by something which in I can give them free rein. They have loved it every time and have to be dragged away. Scott's party's letters guarantee to elicit an emotional response. The museum staff are also excellent at arranging things just as I wanted them (which might also involve keeping their distance). Five stars isn't enough.
