Where to start with this accommodation is difficult but I will start with our 10.30pm arrival in the semi dark where we grabbed quick showers and went into the hot tub for an hour to unwind.
This place is wonderful the view is amazing the accommodation is clean and ample
The resident pair of foxes wander around the garden with out venturing too close if you are about. The bird life is amazing. It is a little piece of heaven.
The woodburners are great and having one in the main bedroom is awesome.
The local beach is clean and well kept with lifeguards at weekends when we visited.
The local town has a good choice of shopping and amenities.
This accommodation is great for couples or families with a large open plan kitchen allowing for family time when making breakfast or cooking.
We absolutely loved Trag Retreat It was such a gem sitting above the sea. There are some friendly donkeys who pop their heads over to say hello each morning and even a fox who visits occasionally! There are some lovely beaches very close by, our favourite was Sandy Cove, which is accessed by turning right out of the drive and driving for a few miles. If you look carefully you will see it from the road. You need to park above and walk down the steps to the cove. It was magical - there were basking sharks swimming very close by and rocks to jump into the sea from. The nearby Skibereen is charming and has lovely cafes. Loved our time here and plan to visit again soon
We loved our stay here over the new year that we came straight home wanting to book it again. The views are amazing and the hot tub such a wonderful way to enjoy them. The house is in a quiet spot - certainly in the winter, although with several good beaches in easy driving distance, no doubt it becomes a little livelier in the summer holidays. But it's also an easy drive to good shopping and dining.
The only thing stopping us giving it the full 5 stars is that it's a little chilly in the winter, which is only to be expected given that it's originally a very old cottage. The sitting room gets toasty warm, though, with the stove going - as does the master bedroom. Falling asleep with the glow from the stove was a real luxury.
We're just back from a fantastic week in Trag Retreat. The house is fab with the most stunning views of the sea. There's absolutely nothing more amazing than relaxing in the outdoor hot tub, watching the sun set and listening to the waves crash against the cliffs. It was our second time staying and we're already planning on going back next year! There's plenty to do and see and one of our favourite places to bring the kids was to the beach on Sherkin Island. There's also horse riding, Mizen Head, the Ewe experience, plenty of water activities etc. and the locals are so friendly and welcoming, as are the owners of Trag Retreat. It's definitely worth a visit!
Had a wonderful stay at this house , the views are stunning, hosts have thought of everything the guest might need, hot tub was set up ready to go on our arrival, had a great stay
