“Great cottage in an ideal location”
Reviewed 4 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We were attending a family wedding at Tissington Hall and decided to make a week of it and book a cottage. After looking at different properties online we decide on upper bank house for the location and on the excellent reviews- We were not disappointed.
On arrival we were greeted by the owner John who lives next door with his wife Liz. On the table in the kitchen we found a bottle of cava ,lemonade and nibbles - a lovely unexpected extra. The kitchen itself was well equipped with everything you would need and more ,all very high quality.
The whole cottage was immaculate and spacious and we immediately felt at home here. The lounge had a very good range of DVDs ,books and games to keep us entertained. The local pub , The Red Lion , is a short stroll along the road and serves good food Wednesday to Sunday . Also a short drive away is The Ketch where we also had an excellent meal.
A great base for exploring the surrounding area with Carsington Water and The Tissington Trail only a short drive away .
We had a lovely stay here and would definitely recommend it to friends and family .

Thanks Karen, we do try hard to maintain a very high standard at the cottage and we're delighted to hear you really enjoyed your stay. We're very lucky with our local pubs, great food and great atmosphere, just what our guests are looking for.

We're really pleased the wedding went well for you all and the weather that day was super. It all makes for happy memories! We'll hope to see you again soon. John & Liz.

“Great holiday cottage...”
Reviewed 4 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

A great holiday cottage to stay in for 4 adults and 2 children. Located well for exploring the Peak District and plenty to do in the local area. Its a large cottage with plenty of space for 6 people - very well equipped kitchen and also plenty of games and books for entertainment. Would highly recommend this cottage to others.

“Couldn't recommend this cottage more!”
Reviewed 30 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This cottage is in a lovely rural area, which is a great base for walks (long & short) or drives to nearby towns or attractions. There is a nice pub a few doors down the road (The Red Lion), which serves food.

The hosts, John & Liz, are lovely and very welcoming, yet left us to do our own thing, which was great. I can imagine they would be very willing to help should you come into any difficulties or need help with something. They also provided a delicious welcome pack of wine and nibbles, which was a sweet surprise to find in the kitchen!

The cottage itself is wonderful! There were five adults in our group, but six would also fit very comfortably in this homely yet spacious cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we managed to cook a full roast dinner with all the trimmings, alongside many other meals during our stay. There's a dining table in the kitchen, and also a separate dining room, so you are spoilt for choice with where to sit to eat. You also have the option of outside if the weather is kind, in the small but nice garden area.

The lounge is quite big, and full of DVDs, books and games to keep you entertained if it's rainy outside, or you fancy a night in. There's even a decent bluetooth speaker - John & Liz have thought of everything!

My only complaint would be the fact there's only one bathroom, however this didn't cause any problems during our stay, and is just a personal anxiety due to health issues. The bathroom itself is spotless, with a large shower cubicle and a gorgeous bath.

Upper Bank House is great - it is homely, clean, and well equipped, and we'd love to return sometime.

“Brilliant!”
Reviewed 2 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Gorgeous cottage. The owners are charming, helpful and very welcoming. The cottage is one of the best rentals we've ever stayed in - every mod con you could possibly wish for, stylish, comfortable and charming.
We would definitely recommend it and we are thinking of visiting again very soon.

“Exceptional!”
Reviewed 18 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This property is truly exceptional! It is immaculate, with much thought having gone into it. It is amply big enough for 6 adults, with a kitchen that has everything needed- and more- for a truly comfortable stay. The bathroom is spacious with a large shower. The 'welcome pack' provided was very thoughtful of John and Liz.
Entertainment is also provided in the number of DVDs, games and books available, and the lounge will seat 6 adults with ease and in comfort. There is outdoor furniture provided so one can dine alfresco while watching the birds feeding. Bedrooms are spotless and comfortable.
We certainly would like to go back one day.
