I write this as one of the family members who have just spent a wonderful five nights over Easter at Le Grand Camus.
It is a beautifully converted and furnished gite with far reaching views in peaceful and quiet countryside.
It is also very well equipped and our bed was extremely comfortable, and handily placed on the ground floor, whilst the younger generations slept upstairs.
Despite experiencing some tricky weather conditions in the form is Storm Katy, involving a power cut, we were able to keep warm thanks to the wood stove.
In fact everything was just perfect. Thank you Penny and helpers for a great break.
We spent a lovely seven days at Le Grand Camus. Everything we could need was provided, including kitchen appliances, lovely comfy beds, plenty of hot water, heated towel racks (!) and stunning views.
Le Camus is incredibly homely, clean and comfortable, and is a five-minute drive away from the nearest village. It's about an hour's drive to other local market towns, and 50 minutes to the beach. Nearby shops are a short walk or drive. We visited the Crêperie Fontaine Saint Père, which boasts the best galettes for miles, the historic town of Dinan, and the market at Lamballe.
We were greeted by a lovely welcome pack and knew that Penny was on hand if we had any problems. The house has masses of books and DVDs (plus Sky) for a rainy day. There's even picnic bags and barbeque equipment. It's beautifully decorated and clean throughout.
Le Camus is bordered by a beautiful wood, and green fields stretch into the distance. The garden is huge so would be perfect for families with young kids – nearby roads are very quiet. It's very peaceful and a welcome break from London. Can't fault it in any way. Would absolutely recommend and hope to return!
