I loved every moment of my stay here. The cabins are lovely, with Adirondack chairs on the front porches. The staff is friendly and treated me with so much kindness. The common area has a large indoor/outdoor fireplace, with a deck looking out at the mountains and the beautiful, stunningly-blue Kicking Horse River. Coffee/tea is provided here every afternoon. The property is wonderful to explore- you can sit at a campfire and make s'mores by the river, or walk along the river in either direction. The mountains surrounding are stunning. An easy drive to Field from here. In addition to this, the food at the restaurant is absolutely delicious- don't miss the sugar pie for dessert!!

Room Tip: Cabin 6 was great for a river/mountain view, close to the fire pit.

We have stayed several times at Cathedral Mountain Lodge and plan to go back. Cathedral gives you the cabin in the mountains experience. The added bonus here is the fantastic restaurant, riverside fire pit and excellent service from the staff. Cathedral is expensive but compared to other hotels in the Banff area of this quality it is comparable. The unfortunate thing is in the parks unique hotels/experiences are costly. If you are going to pay the money Cathedral offers a very private location, great scenery everywhere and a truly unique experience.

My brother has recently retired and we accompanied him and his wife on a trip to Canada. We were unanimous that this was the best place we stayed during our three week trip. It didn't matter that it rained - we simply snuggled down by the roaring fire in the lounge and waited until it abated sufficiently for us to walk around the Emerald lake. The food here is simply fabulous, especially the halibut!

A small point about the website: we found that the satnav in our rental Ford Edge wouldn't correctly locate the lodge using the post code (it tried to send us somewhere many miles away). A map and a few words of directions on the web site would have been helpful. It's one of those things - it's obvious once you know how.

The cabin we stayed in was beautiful (inside and out) as well as it's surroundings.

Our complementary breakfasts and an evening dinner were among the best meals we had during our holiday.

Staff was very kind, providing information about the area with recommendations about places to visit and local events to attend.

So many hiking trails (nearby) to choose from, and we made good use of a few of them.

Cathedral Mountain Lodge (CML) is a very expensive place and does not offer value for the money. Via a travel agency in The Netherlands we book via the Canadian largest tour operator JonView two nights in DeLuxe King cabin / lodge at CML. The price we paid for 2 nights is CAD 1.100 (incl. all tax) so we had very high expectations.

The place is really at the foot of a mountain and is indeed nice to stay. However, the lodge is very disappointing. We have lodge 04 which is the half of a wooden cabin. This means also half of the space we would expect. We can walk around the bed but there is very limited space to stall our luggage. There is no kitchenette, there is no fridge, there is no decent cooling, we experience a lot of noise of the highway to Field. We can indeed hear the nice background of the river. But the sound of cars and trucks passing by on the highway is exceeding the sound of the river.

The restaurant is far below expectations and the quality of the food is 6 on a scale of 10. However, the price level is 10 on a scale of 10. We had two starters and two main courses. Including one (average) white house wine and half liter of (average) red wine, our bill was CAD 170.
The restaurant is unbelievable expensive, certainly compared to the poor service level. We ordered two medium/rare tenderloin beef but both were is cooked medium/well-done. All glasses - not only our’s - had many finger prints of the personnel and a lot of water scale which they were not able to remove after three attempts to polish the glasses.

All-in-all, I’m not satisfied at all about this place and I would not recommend my friends to book it.
