The banks of seating and flag poles are going up for our National day on 5 July. The Hill looked parched, grass more yellow than green. Sure it’ll be alright on the night.

Within the Tynwald National Park Tynwald Hill comes to life every July when the Manx Parliament convenes here.
For the rest of the year it is a beautiful manicured site with adjacent arboretum and sunken gardens.
A very peaceful place with a nice tea shop opposite.

It was an honour to get to this location of Tynwald as it's where the 1st parliament used to congregate and hold talks, as the queen still uses to this day,,

check it out

As arguably the oldest continuous parliament in the world, a perfectly stepped mound with its adjacent church holding the seats of its members, this is a place you should definitely visit as it encapsulates so much of what is different about the Island, as well as being beautiful. Another 'must see' - but I was glad of an explanation by our guide!

Not really a great deal to see but good if you know the history. The church is neat but unexceptional and the grounds and hill are pleasant. The nearby pub looks attractive too. Parking not very easy.
