Fantastic weekend,very friendly atmosphere.
It has quite a few locals and they also make you feel welcome.
They had live acts in the garden which everyone was joining in

Thank Julie C

I agree with others previous comments. The Duke of Wellington was built as a PUB probably over a hundred years ago. Pubs are something British people should cherish, and foreigners love about the British, as they are amongst other things, something the British do like no one else can. Restaurant it is not, and it is appalling that anyone has tried to make this anything but a pub !! Can't order a beer without food?? What a load of rubbish. Please see some sense and revert back to the lovable pub it has been for a 100 years plus, we don't need another swanky restaurant, we need a forest pub.

Sadly I visited a pub that has existed in Epping Forest for many years, it has established a no drinks without food order, so is effectively a restaurant only.

The food was good and well cooked and presented. The staff were all very pleasant and the food came up hot and looking good.
The portions are on the large side and accordingly some of the prices seem a little steep, cod, chips and peas around £14 but it was a massive portion of cod.
I haven't got a bad word to say but not a good word either. It was good food in a nice place with a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Just perhaps a little over priced for what is on offer even with the large portions.

Were nearly put off by previous reviews, although one of our party had visited recently and had a good meal.
Had a lovely meal with good service, smiling people, good portions. Told on our next visit, my well behaved dog would also be welcome, Shall definitely return.
