This "lodge" looks okay on the exterior, but our room was a disaster. The first thing we noticed was how dark the room was. There were several missing light bulbs, which a young woman (not sure what her capacity with the "lodge" is) replaced. The bulbs were still very dim, so that evening reading was impossible. The bulbs provided were a mix of incandescent and CFLs.
Next, we noticed that the smoke detector hung lifeless from the ceiling with no batteries. Again, the young woman, with the help of someone who seemed to be her brother, found a battery and replaced that.
Next, we saw that there were no microwave and refrigerator, as advertised. Again, the young woman and man shuffled around, and "found" one from the room next to ours. They moved the appliances to our room, along with the coffee set up, including a dirty cup, which the young woman saw and replaced.
We wanted to hang our coats in the closet...no hangers. Again, the young woman found some.
Went to wash our hands...hot water tap in the sink spun uselessly. Reported it to manager, who said that we could have hot water by reaching UNDER the sink and turning the valve on and off again each time we used it.
Ceiling Fan: wobbled and creaked a great deal....not of use to us.
Wifi: worked only if we went outside the room. As we were sitting out in the evening trying to catch up on emails, someone came along and told us to watch out for a bear family, so we went back in to NO wifi.
TV: old, outdated, and the remote didn't work. Once we got the TV on, the cable wasn't working.
The bed seemed reasonably clean, so we settled in to sleep. BUT, the window blinds which were splashed with something very nasty looking, were bent and broken in places, so we placed strips of toilet paper to gain privacy. In addition, the blinds were not adequate, and light streamed into the room all night. The next morning, we tried to open the blinds, and the entire thing crashed to the floor.
We tried to make coffee....pot didn't work.
Toilet paper holder was about to fall off. Bath mat was tattered and dirty looking. No hair dryer. No tissues.
No pictures on the walls, but there were nails where some had been.
After this night of nightmares, we went to approach the management, but she didn't come in until 9 am. When she did, we asked her how she could, in good conscience, put someone in a room like that. She said, "because my boss tells me to." She accepted no responsibility, indicating that this was a job for her, and she would do as the owner requested. She said he has put a little money into the outside of the buildings, but wasn't doing much to the insides.
She gave us his name and told us to Google it to read about him and we would understand. We did do that.
I cannot see how anyone would want to stay in this motel. It did appear that there were long term rentals, as we talked with a family in the two rooms next to ours.
We would have sought another place, but it was late afternoon and nothing was available. We had no idea, from the motel's website, how disgusting it would be.
