Heard so much about this place... visited and it was very poor... the curry was ridiculously hot to the point people complaining all around - to be told “it’s a jungle curry!”. Not sure why that should be an excuse for zero flavour and excessive heat... I ordered a steak which was grisly and cold and the mushroom was swimming in oil.... all in all... both meals inedible....poor. Won’t be back

We had a date night there the first time we visited. The food was excellent. We returned a few weeks later with the kids and sat out in the garden. They have about 10 tables outside with a swing and room to run around for the kids. There's even a chicken coup outside. Ted the pub dog is also a super sweet little favorite with the kids. The food itself is creative and of very high quality, Sunday roasts being our favorite. They have a seafood variation of the roast too, for those who fancy variety. Home made ice creams in flavors like wasabi ginger and a wide selection of inventive desserts round off satisfying seasonal menus. Love this pub and so glad we're so close!

Dropped in after a visit to Petworth NT. Don’t be put off by the number of cars parked outside, they may be visiting the cricket pitch. Loads of room inside and we sat in the lovely garden. Well looked after with great food and local gin and beer! Found a little gem, just a shame we don’t live closer

Having made a booking we were told there was no record of our reservation. I showed the e-mail confirmation and in fact the booking was clearly shown on their own reservation sheet.

Menu is very promising and quotes lots of provenance. The food itself does not live up to the description. Waygu burger was uninspired and with bacon and cheese and extra £1.25 each I’d have expected more than one small rasher and a slice of cheese that was not even warmed through. The promised harissa mayonnaise had clearly gone for a burton. Gin haddock ( I kid you not!) was ok but had been balanced in the chips which made them soggy and unpleasant. (Neighbours simply sent theirs back!)

The kids serving was distinctly lacklustre and indicative of the global pea shortage or the need to maximise margins.

Needless to say no matter how appealing the dessert menu we gave it a super wide birth.

What a beautiful garden. It makes such a difference on a fine day. Lots of work clearly goes in, and the allotment/veg patch bit is good to see.
My very elderly aunt loved her squid. Sheis94 and rarely finishes even the starter she chooses as her meal. This one vanished.
Friendly staff, including a trainee who worked hard to get things right.
Chicken pie high quality.
One comment: not sure about serving soups in enormous shallow bowls. The soup cools swiftly and it's not great trying to scrapost of the soup up in order to eat it.
Good lunch though. Thanks.
