This is such a lovely place. The mill house, set in its grounds; mill stream, fields and woods and the surrounding gently rolling countryside and vineyards make for an ideal spot to relax in, and the perfect base from which to explore.
The gite is practical and spacious and wonderful for families or groups of friends. It would also make an excellent retreat for writers or artists seeking peace and inspiration.
Jeremy and Sara are warm and friendly hosts, ready to offer help and advice when needed.
This is a great place which manages to be both off the beaten track and yet easy to get to with amenities close by If you are coming from outside France by air it is not much more than a couple of hours from Bordeaux.
The Moulin is set on a quite stream with lovely views in its own spacious grounds. It is close to the village of St Michel de Montaigne which is well worth exploring, especially the chateau. For cyclists the Moulin is very close to the start of the Lawrence of Arabia bike route, Roue de Lawrence d'Arabie, which is now an official cycle route in the Dordogne.
If you are looking to relax and chill in la France profonde this is the place to go.
I really enjoyed staying at Jeremy and Sara's beautifully restored Moulin Gite - located within walking distance of the atmospheric and historic village of St Michel de Montaigne - there is a lovely walk from their house to the chateau where the great French writer and philosopher Montaigne lived and wrote his words of wisdom. I was with a group of friends from London and Bristol, celebrating a birthday, we each had our own delightful bedroom with scenic views into the courtyard below, all rooms had excellent beds and mattresses and the shared use of a very modern bathroom with a superb shower, plus additional loos in the building. Jeremy, a highly successful writer from England, is also a designer and a bit of an entrepreneur has a great eye for good design which is evident all over the house. He and his delightful wife Sara, a TV producer, could not do enough to make us all feel comfortable and relaxed. There is a wonderful outdoor area for eating alfresco, a nearby stream winds around the proerty leading to a stunning lily pond with shades of Monet's garden, a forest full of delightful walks, several vineyards next door. You wont be disappointed, I promise.
