I had the pleasure to stay at this hotel recently on a four day business trip and only wish i had found it previously as i have made several trips to the ares on business.
This is a fabulous hotel that ticks all the boxes: exceptionally clean, large rooms for a five star as most five stars i have stayed in the rooms are compact! the facilities.the food, the bar with its nightly entertainment and the great team the general manager has put together.Ma Angeles Martinez(GM) who i meet during the stay is a skilled professional in running a great hotel for business and pleasure.

I have just returned from a girls trip for 4 nights to this hotel. This is my third visit to this hotel and it is always fanatastic. We were lucky and we were upgraded to the Villas, these are amazing, very spacious with a large Queen size bed,en suite bathroom, all complete with Molton Brown products. You also get a huge lounge with kitchen and a private terrace overlooking the private pool. We spent our days laying by the communal pool, as it is heated and the restaurant and bar is close by. We ate in Ombu which is the hotel's thai restaurant. This was fantastic, great service, great food and a beautiful setting in the gardens. We ate breakfast and lunch in the hotel too which is always good and the pool side restaurant has an amazing choice. I have 2 small negative comments though I'm afraid to say. The hotel has a lovely terrace bar which overlooks the pool and is lovely for a drink in the evenings, but the outside tables and chairs were very scruffy and need some updating, comfy sofas would be great. Secondly, pool side service during the day wasn't great and you often had to go into the restaurant to get someone to serve you. As I said little comments but still love this hotel and will definately be back.

We are delighted that you enjoyed our Villas, the service, and overall, our magnificent reopened Ombú (our prestigious Thai). Do you know it is only open from June to September? Therefore it is wonderful to read that most of our guests get the chance to try it and fall in love with it.

Regarding the rest of your comments, thank you for sharing, and I am glad to let you know that the bar tables will be replaced once the new ones come from where they are being tailor made. When you come back, you will experience them and chances are that you will not want to leave them! Oh, and about the pool service, please accept my sincere apologies, we had a bit of a hiccup regarding said service, but it is completely taken care of.

It’s still a really friendly Hotel with a great service. Rooms are clean with a big balcony and a good size bathroom. In the morning they serve a rich buffet with lots of fresh fruits and they prepare your eggs any style. During our stay the outdoor terrace was open for breakfast till 11:00 am. Nice sunbeds and drinks direct at the heated pool behind the hotel. The bar is still cool for your evening drinks, live music or a DJ makes the atmosphere complete. Staff in the bar as well during breakfast are great. The hotel has a more than perfect WIFI system it's fast even outside and on the beach. The new beach club named Orange is still a cool place but service is not that good. They also changed the restaurant and the menu at the poolside of the hotel is better than in this Orange club.

The Don Carlos Hotel is a large property at the Elviria end of Marbella. It is not near the historic area or the popular harbor town of Puerto Banus. That being said, it is easy to take a taxi to those areas if desired. The hotel has beautiful gardens and grounds stretching between the main building and the beach. It has a large pool with many areas for seating, and a number of interesting restaurant choices (I can say that their outdoor Thai restaurant was some of the best, freshest, Thai food I have had). There is a large tennis complex and another pool and beach club/Nikki Beach, for those who want a change from the quiet pool at the main building. All of the facilities were clean and well tended. Staff help with umbrellas, towels, drinks and food. There is also a large spa, but I did not partake, so I cannot speak to that.
The breakfast is included, and the buffet served by the pool is quite grand. There are made-to-order omelettes and pancakes, in addition to an impressive array of fruit, breads, meats, cheeses, lox, cereals, and sweets. Here too the staff was friendly and helpful.
Our room was in the tower, and had a small balcony; you can see the water from every view, even if you are not right on it. We had no complaints about the room and bathroom. The space was well organized and included the usual desk area, sitting area, comfy bed, robes and slippers, large closet, safe, flat screen TV, and mini bar. The bathroom, though not huge, had a bidet, and large sink area with Molton Brown products. The AC was quiet and worked well once your room card was inserted into the slot by the door.
There are many pleasant ways to spend time at the Don Carlos Hotel. If you want a romantic, small boutique hotel, this is not the place, however there are many things to recommend it.

We've visited this area many times and this hotel doesn't disappoint. The beach club is excellent, so quiet and plenty of beds. The food was very average here but plenty of local restaurants on the beach front. Rooms and service are faultless. We ate at their new Thai restaurant , this was disappointing, having been to Thailand and many Thai restaurants the flavour fell short, other diners thought the same, so I'd give it a miss, all in all fabulous hotel, breakfast was excellent , but other meals let down slightly.

Room tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a balcony
