We have stayed in Buckden many times but this was the first time at Dalegarth. The property is extremely well designed, very well appointed, exceptionally clean and with stunning views of Upper Wharfedale from the upstairs living space. I have nearly run out of adjectives!! Walking on the Dales Way can begin a few hundred yards from the front door, we did not use our car at all during the week. The location is quiet and peaceful yet just a short stroll from the centre of he village and its facilities. The owners are just next door and are very welcoming and friendly. Dalegarth offered us all the ingredients for the perfect holiday. I would award 10 stars if I could!!!

Wow! Not an expression we would normally write, but in this case you have left us with bright red ears and glowing feelings! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts - not only with us as owners, but with the wider internet 'community'. We really appreciate the time and effort you have taken to post a Review, since we know such items can be so beneficial to others searching for holiday venues in the Yorkshire Dales. Finally, we do hope to see you both again and to that end a most sincere 'au revoir' from us both. Susan & David Lusted

We enjoyed are stay so much that we had no hesitation in recommending it to relatives who have subsequently booked and we hope to return in the very near future. Buckden is a very pleasant village in the middle of the real & stunning Yorkshire Dales. To the rear was a panoramic view of Wharfedale from the french doors and we were able to watch a variety of birds feeding off the feeders on the balcony, including gold finches and even a woodpecker.
The Owners were extremely welcoming and the property was spotless on our arrival, There were some really nice touches, including fresh flowers, a card welcoming us from the staff who prepared the cottage and mints on the pillows.
All in all highly recommended.

We do appreciate both the time taken and the generous comments made by you in this Review. To make a 'repeat' visit is always a compliment, but to know that we shall be welcoming your family in four weeks makes it particularly special! We hope that this confidence can be shared by others. By the way, the woodpeckers are as greedy as ever! David and Susan

“Comfortable stay”

We had a peaceful and comfortable week at No 10 Dalegarth. The property was spotless. The kitchen, lounge and ensuite bedroom are upstairs and all are large and light. The lounge has a balcony with a beautiful view over the hills. The kitchen is well equipped. We paid £10 extra for electricity (we cooked breakfasts but not evening meals). We would take a non-stick frying pan and saucepan next time. There is no mobile reception at the cottage (or in the area) but the Wifi was fine.

Thank you so much for taking the time to add a review. We use them ourselves regularly and find them not simply helpful but often reassuring. Hopefully, others reading your comments will take note of your positive remarks. We hope your balcony was visited by the woodpeckers and gold finches, which we noticed over the weekend; now a hedgehog seems to have 'moved in' to the garden below, as well as a family of rabbits from the neighbouring fields. We do hope we can look forward to welcoming you back before too long. Warm regards, David and Susan Lusted, Dalegarth, Buckden.

“Wonderful, relaxing Dalegarth”

Just back from a lovely stay at Dalegarth holiday cottage. What a super spot. David and Susan are so warm and welcoming and the cottage was spotless with everything you could want for a home from home stay. The views were breathtaking, and Buckden is a fantastic village to stay. Walks on your doorstep and the Buck Inn a stones throw away with tasty ale and meals. It can be tricky sometimes to find places suitable when you have a small child but David and Susan provided all we needed. We would definitely go back!

Susan and I are delighted that the cottage worked for you. We were equally impressed that 'dad' managed his precious back pack every day! Tiny tots can bring pressures, bur yours clearly brought joy. Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review - we hope that it will give confidence to others to explore this beautiful part of the Dales - and we'll certainly be delighted to welcome you all back one day. Warm regards, David

“Extremely clean and well presented”

The property at No 9 Dalegarth was extremely well presented and absolutely spotless. We thoroughly enjoyed our Mon to Friday stay and the property is well situated in Wharfedale ideal for walkers. The views were stunning with wildlife visible all around. We can also recommend the local pub, The Buck Inn, for meals and an excellent breakfast. The only criticisms we would have is that the spacious downstairs bathroom needs a shower curtain to prevent water spilling all over the floor, a necessity as the water pressure in the en suite shower is non existent. Also if staying in the winter the downstairs can be a lot colder than upstairs, the bill for electricity for the week was £29 and that was without turning the heating up. Otherwise we can thoroughly recommend this cottage for a quiet and peaceful holiday.
