Excellent arrosticini and pizza as always. A firm favourite with us and the children. We always rexerve a table on facebook as it is easy to do; we always get a reply quickly to confirm the booking. If you are travelling through or staying near Civitella Casanova, this restaurant is a MUST!!

We have a house in Civitella Casanova and visit regularly throughout the year. We absolutely love this restaurant. They serve simply the best arosticini anywhere - well they should; arosticini derive from this village. It has a lovely atmosphere and is always busy - you have to book to avoid disappointment. The restaurant has just been extended as it is so popular. They specialise in pizza and arosticini (lamb or liver on a skewer and sprinkled with salt, then cooked over a charcoal grill) and they serve great local wine and cheeses. The staff work exceptionally hard. You can watch the arosticini being cooked - they are delicious.

If you are staying anywhere near Civitella Casanova, you must try Macalusa.

i go often when i go back in my region in this restaurant situated in a hidden town at 40 minutes by car from Pescara, it's the place where my grandparents come from. This restaurant has an homemade cuisine with genuine and fresh products of the territory and it's just amazing the taste of the original arrosticini, once you try this you'll never eat others. Prices are also very good probably because in little town like this that's the average price of food that is lower. I always take some focaccia mista as appetizer, that they serve you in 8 slices with pecorino cheese, primosale cheese, prosciutto crudo, fresh tomatoes. Then arrosticini which are bigger than the usuals in some restaurants (i eat 8 to 10 depends from the day) , Red wine, at the end homemade amaro and that's it. Excellent.

This cosy restaurant, hidden in the hills of Abruzzo, is the best place for eating Arrosticini! Perfectly cooked over a small charcoal grill. It's a specialty from Civitella and here at Macalusa cooked at it's very best!
They also offer best quality beef (T-bone & Rib-eye) and a large selection of fresh baked pizza's and focaccia's.

Friendly and fast service. They don't offer a extended wine-list but a nice selection of local wines and some beers.

The bill was very reasonable and even got rounded down!

Would definitely visit this place again!

We were visiting Abruzzo for the first time from the U.S. Our cousins from Pescara took us out one rainy night to this charming place in a rural village, and the drive was well worth it. We were treated to a delicious meal of aroastacinni (lamb or liver cooked on wooden skewers over a charcoal grill), which is a traditional Abruzzo food. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was great. The other diners all appeared to be local folks, who seemed surprised to see Americans so far off of the beaten path. We would love to come back again!
