My wife and I decided to try this restaurant it having been recommended by friend from Monte Porzio several years ago. The reviews on Trip Advisor also helped to convince us that it was worth a visit.

We booked a table at 8.30 for 9.00pm and arrived at 9.00 to find the car park empty, and the restaurant the same.

Welcomed in by two of the proprietors in a pleasant and friendly way we were offered a choice of one of two simple aperitifs and asked to sit in the lounge whilst they turned on the music, lit the dark room and went presumably to prepare for us, the only customers on a Saturday night.

We were sat in the lounge area near the bar which was tired looking and dusty and displayed a Tripadvisor menu for the 2012-2013 season.... but which above all had a strong smell of mould, so much so that despite it not being a particularly warm night we were quite happy to accept when the proprietor asked if we minded the door being left open.

This was the last we saw of anyone, as we drank our drinks and waited for menus or some advancement to an evening that we had a growing feeling of disquiet about as not only was the smell very unpleasant and the feeling that we'd intruded on an evening when they had expected not to have to work very strong, but after all if a restaurant has no customers on a Saturday night, what must it be like on other nights and how fresh can the food be when you have no turn-over?

Having been a restauranteur for 20 years in an earlier part of my life, I am nevertheless an understanding person and with it being past 9pm and in a part of the countryside without alternatives I would have stayed and hoped for the best were in not for the fact we were then totally ignored for 25 minutes whilst we could hear the proprietors talking with family in what was presumably the kitchen.

So, at 9.25 with still nobody having returned to provide menus, refresh our drinks or anything, we left some money for the aperitifs and left to drive into town and find somewhere else to eat on a Saturday night after 10pm.

So, I have no idea whether the food we missed would have been good or not, but the service was very poor, the location tired and the smell unacceptable.

One to be avoided, hence my review.

This is a preatty and romantic place lost in Roman countryside but already well known for its landscape, the grotto and huge camino overwelcoming inside.
Being here for Halloween but not only has such a meaning as it is the perfect location for theme party dinner as well as wine tasting sessions..I believe Antonello had the great idea to mix and merge these into one special event were food is great, wine choice superb and staff careful and kind.
From the traditional recipes to the tastiest desserts one should try them all comparing their value to the very reasonable per person price as well.
I will be back and writing this in English I do hope many International friend will be so curious to pay a visit. Thanks Antonello my friend:)

Not easy to find, this little gem, hidden in the back roads of the Castelli hills. But worth searching for, let me tell you. The old house has a wonderful, familiar atmosphere. The decoration of the restaurant is both homely, original as classy. The manager/chef is a flamboyant, wonderful person who pays attention to detail. Even the background music is well selected. The formula is original and enchanting. Every week, 4 delicious dishes are served (so no choice to make, albeit that one is asked whether one has allergies or problems with certain dishes). Carefully prepared, local dishes in nice but not too big quantity. Should one still be hungry after this, one can order an additional meat or fish dish. Also for the dessert one has plenty of choice. All the wines are carefully selected by the owner, who will proudly show his ancient wine cellar to the guests. I've been a regular now for years, and will continue to be.
