“Country cottage, peaceful and pictureresque”

Lovely 2 bed cottage with big garden. Rural location, lovely and peaceful. Pigs and chickens next door add to the country feel.

“Spacious cottage in a quiet rural location”

The cottage is in a very quiet rural location, there is a neighbouring attached house with a friendly family that own a couple of amusing pigs and assorted other animals. The rest of the immediate area is farmed fields and it's about 10 minutes drive to the nearest pub, the St Vincent Arms, where we dined one night.
We used the cottage as a base to explore Yorkshire, it's convenient to York (use the park and ride) and also OK for the North York Moors but a bit longer drive to the Yorkshire Dales Park (due to traffic crossing York). The Yorkshire Air Museum is on the way in to York and has some interesting exhibits managed by volunteers. In York, the Minster is well worth a visit.
This cottage is probably most suitable if you want to get away from it all, it is quite spacious in comparison to other holiday rentals we stayed in. All the basics were there, you just need to take all your food supplies because the nearest supermarkets are in York or Pocklington, there's nothing within walking distance.

Hi Paul

I am disappointed that you only gave a three star for the cottage.

You have raised no issues , and all of the information you raise is in the cottage information guide on the websites

The cottage is exactly 1 mile from the nearest pub, and certainly doesn’t take 10 minutes to drive. There is a convenience store in the next village 1.5 miles away.

The cottage is tranquil, spacious , and rural. Thats how we market it.

Kind regards
John

“Cosy rental”

Cosy cottage in Yorkshire countryside, just 15 minutes from York and a 20-minute walk to a lovely local pub. We enjoyed our stay very much and the local pub (St Vincent Arms) was fab. The cottage itself is clean and the bedrooms lovely, although white sheer curtains on the master bedroom windows didn't do much to block the early morning light. There was also no hairdryer in the property that I could find, which meant some crazy hair for the weekend. The other thing I'd note is that the lounge is quite cosy, which was perfect for the 3 of us, but would not suit more than 4.

“Quiet and cosy”

A quiet location and a cosy place. Ideal for day trips across Yorkshire and local walks, the bluebell wood down the lane was beautiful. The hosts were very helpful.

“Perfect holiday home”
Reviewed 16 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

My family stayed at the cottage over the easter break and it was lovely. Peaceful location pigs as neighbours. What was a very wet week was made far more pleasant by the knowledge we could go back to a warm fire. Excellent facilities and the bed in the master bedroom was to die for. All in all an excellwnt cottage. Would be happy to recommend and happy to go back.
