Last Friday had the mad idea to cycle my home east of Salisbury to Salcombe. Came across the Village Cafe and what a treat. Much needed cup of coffee a delicious bacon and such friendly staff.
East Coker is not on my normal route to anywhere but I am going to have to find a reason to go back.
Many thanks

This is a place to visit every day if you can. Amazing coffee, wonderful breakfast, lovely lunches and afternoon tea and as for Sunday Lunch - it is just like your mum used to cook it! You can sit outside in the sun, or inside in the convivial atmosphere of a packed cafe smelling of coffee and home made cake. I just love this place.

What a cute little cafe, off the beaten track. We cycled there from yeovil for lunch and had omelettes and cakes, all hand made!
Nom nom nom

This lovely little cafe is tucked away in the village of East Coker, it's own website calls itself "The Village Cafe" but what is in a name?
First of all you will probably be greeted by one of the cheerful, helpful staff, or the proprietor. Then the temptation begins, this is a village cafe and offers appropriate food. Everything looks good, particularly their freshly made cakes. Whether you have a sandwich, cake, or hot meal you can be confident it will be up to a high standard.
They are licensed as well so whether you want coffee or something stronger they can help. Not haut cuisine but good, fairly priced fare in a very pleasant cafe. East Coker is not somewhere I visit often, but this cafe could tempt me to make a detour!

Fiona the owner of our cottage recommended we visit this this cafe in the village when leaving our w/e rental.
The owner was friendly.
Their was parking outside in the courtyard.
Inside it felt cosy and welcoming with soft seating and tables for food.
Children and dogs were welcome.
We ordered an English traditional breakfast and enjoyed it although I felt that it would have looked more elegant to have the baked beans in a separate container to place where we wished rather than spread over the other ingredients and making the fried bread soggy.
The cake and coffee looked appetising and we will return with our grand children on a future visit.
