Fantastic getaway. Peaceful, excellently kitted-out. Perfect for a couple trying to get away rom everyone. Staff were incredibly helpful. The Pod was immaculate with incredible braai facilities, wood fired oven and a fired hot-tub that made stargazing an out-of world experience. Definitely a hit. Goodluck trying to get a booking at this place. Definitely a gem!
What a wonderful stay! The small things do matter, and this is what made our stay magical! The accommodation was super clean and we were met with the most delicious fresh bread. The hosts were so flexible and accommodating. The stay was peaceful and relaxing, and the environment was stunning! Our little family really enjoyed our weekend away.
We’ll be back! And highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a blissful getaway from the city.
We were blown away by the amazing reserve and the gorgeous newly completed eco pod. The contemporary structure is perfectly perched on the landscape all on its own miles away from anything or anyone else. The deck is the best place for star gazing and late night moon watching from the hot tub. There is a giant net along the front facade that is an incredible spot to hang out on giant pillows and shoot the breeze. We hiked and cycled and saw so many animals. Highlights include giraffe, a huge tortoise, and loads of antelope. The interior of the pod has absolutely everything you could possibly need with an amazing bath and luxurious bed. The whole space has giant doors that open up to the magnificent vista. Indoor outdoor living at its best. We loved every minute of our peaceful stay, the hosting was personal and generous, we will most definetly be back, this is barefoot luxury at its best, thank you so much for creating such a special place!
We had a great weekend at Melozhori - but we could have done with an extra 2 days to totally unwind. The self-catering accommodation was more than adequate for the 4 adults (and 2 border collies), with all essentials on-site: Nespresso, kettle, microwave, air-conditioning, loads of wood, etc.
Even before going on the included game drive, we saw loads of animals, such as eland, zebra and wildebeest right next to the cottage's fence - and was visited by a porcupine on Friday evening (bin raider). It was really good to see the animals in their natural habitat, and very relaxed - and we could walk freely around the reserve!
The weather was great although the wind did blow a bit and it was cold enough for an indoor fire on Friday evening. The views are spectacular, whether from the plunge pool or the hot-tub - and the night sky is awesome with no light pollution.
The donkey-boiler hot-tub works really well, but you need to watch the fire as it burnt too well - it took the temperature to about 50C so we looked like lobsters afterwards - but a quick cool-off in the plunge pool sorted that out.
Melozhori is close enough to Bonnievale for a quick trip to the cheese factory and some wine-tasting on Saturday morning after the game drive.
All in all? We'll be back, sooner rather than later! Especially in the new pods....
Just the breakaway that we needed. Everything was wonderful, from the moment we set foot onto the reserve until the moment we left. Amazing hospitality, setting, nature, views and accommodation. Game drive was extremely informative and interesting - learnt so much.
The kol-kol hot tub is such a lovely add-on!
Loved every minute of our stay.
