This was my first time to Bordeaux and I could not have been more pleased with the accomodation at Chateau Lamothe! Carla had delicious breakfast (fresh fruit, pastries / croissants, eggs & salmon, etc) each morning and was extremely accommodating (had a crib prepared for our 8-month old). She gave great recommendations for St. Emilion and the surrounding area. Do yourself a favor and stay here!

It doesn't get better. Beautiful old chateau surrounded by a moat. Excellent location, halfway between Saint Emilion and Bordeaux (take the tram and avoid parking nightmares). It has everything: chickens, vegetable garden, swans, ducks, pool, lawns, forest... We had the deluxe suite and it was fabulous, huge bathroom, lots of space and very comfortable.

Highly recommended

Room Tip: We loved the deluxe room

My wife and I spent two amazing nights here in early June and were terribly sad to leave. It really is a very special place. The grounds and the chateau itself are just amazing. We didn't take advantage of the heated pool, but we did make full use of the beautiful outdoor patios. Our room was absolutely incredible. It was surprisingly large and had a luxurious bathroom. Breakfast each morning was gorgeous, and the owners are lovely people. They arranged wine tours and made dinner reservations for us, and everywhere they recommended for us was perfect. This honestly ranks among the very best stays we have had anywhere in the world.

If you are like us and want to get away from commercial hotels when you travel, then you should definitely put a stay at the chateau on your list! This is a beautiful chateau which is warmly and thoughtfully decorated that also has modern conveniences (excellent shower!) The daily breakfast is a delightful experience. When was the last time you had candles lit on the tables at breakfast? Carla is a great host. We shared special moments with her and enjoyed getting to know her. We felt like we were spending time at an old, cherished friend's home.
You are conveniently located near Bordeaux and St. Emilion. Carla gave us advice on places to see and the best routes.

Carla was the perfect host! You didn’t feel like a paying guest but more like a friend staying in her beautiful home. It was just so relaxing. The chateau is absolutely stunning and it deserves all of the rave reviews. Thank you so much for making our stay so special.
