“Lovely Villa with amazing views”
Reviewed 8 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This is a fantastic villa with amazing views of the bay. We stayed here as a couple and found the villa very spacious for just the two of us. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and there was a lovely welcome pack on our arrival. The owner had provided some essentials e.g fresh bread, milk, fruit, jam, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, tea, coffee, water. The bathroom was a bit small but handy to have use of a washing machine. There is a balcony area just outside the living room over looking the pool where you can sit and eat, the view is fabulous and you can watch the sunset. The villa is quite high up so you get to see the lights at night as you look down over the bay. The villa is not overlooked by any other villas and we found it very private. There is another villa next door but this is fenced off also made private. The owner cleaned the pool a few times during our stay usually early in the morning or early evening when we were on our way out. She also cleaned the villa twice in our 10 day stay and provided clean towels. Rest of the time she left us to it and did not disturb us at all. There are 3 tavernas and a mini market which stocks everything all within walking distance. Would recommend a car to get to the other local areas. This is a fantastic villa, great for sunbathing with some shady areas, we loved our stay here!

“Fabulous Views”
Reviewed 18 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed at Bay View Villa 1 for 2 weeks in June 2014, booked via Villas Crete Holidays. The view was not a disappointment and the photographs of the property inside and out were exactly as it is. The kitchen was well equipped for everything you would need for the amount of time you would spend in it on holiday! The main double bedroom was small, as previous reviewers have remarked, but had loads of wardrobe space - and the best view to the front. The back double twin was larger ( our adult daughter was also with us) and yes - the bathroom was small, accommodating the washing machine (essential for a 2 week holiday), but adequate. A new shower system was fitted whilst we were there, very promptly when the existing one went wrong. The owner, who lives at the bottom of the drive was on hand if needed, and very discreetly kept us well stocked with lovely fresh fruit from the trees on site - plums, lemons, oranges etc. The standard Welcome Pack was one of the best we have had to date. The villa was cleaned twice during our stay, and fresh towels and sheets changed twice a week. The outside was fabulous and the view all round breathtaking. The pool was great and kept regularly cleaned by the owner. All in all the villa was great value and we had a lovely time. We hired a car which we felt was essential, and visited many of the local villages in the surrounding area. We often came back after eating at one of the many excellent tavernas to view the sunsets from our villa terrace, as we couldn't find a better viewpoint! It was an easy and scenic walk to the nearest village and tavernas at Kocchino Chorio. It is certainly an area that we would want to return to, and would highly recommend this Villa as excellent value for money.

“A wonderful Villa with superb views”

This was a superb villa with all modern amenities and wonderful views over Souda Bay. Not overlooked, with a wonderful swimming pool this was an ideal villa. A quiet location on the outskirts of a pretty village, situated on the side of a steep hill this was a Cretan holiday at its best. A car is essential, although it is only a short walk to the local taverna. Superb scenery and only a short drive to the beach at Almerida I would highly recommend this villa to couples and families with young children.

“Still sigh thinking about the view”

Okay, even the company rep' who provided this villa was quick to point out that it wasn't in the 'luxury' category (I'd naively asked if there were beach towels at the property). It is on the small side. In fact, I still have a bruise on my shin - such are the tiny proportions in the main bedroom, you can't help but have a run-in with the bedstead. The shower was powerful but no screen around it was a big turn-off - I don't like 'wet-rooms' every time we had a shower...the whole room was drenched including the toilet roll.
BUT BUT BUT - while the villa might not be good enough for those who like rolling around on luxury beach towels - they'd have to be seriously churlish to criticise the outside of the villa. Designed by a swimming pool expert, I don't think I'll ever forget sitting in the pool over-looking Souda Bay, watching the ferries chug in and out and aircraft land in nearby Chania airport - and every time one came in we said 'lucky devils'.
For some the corkscrew of a road snaking from Almyrida resort up to the village of Kokino Horio might prove too much for the nerves/gear box - but it was so worth it because without the climb, you'd wouldn't have that heart-stopping view.
Like the previous reviewer, we made ourselves very much at home in the local taverna and was genuinely quite moved to be grappled affectionately by the owner on our last night...next year he promises to take my son to see the bright lights of Almyrida - 'daughter for you, mum for me' he joked - making my 14 year old blush and thrilled in equal measure. Loved touring around - went to Chania - worth the rather stressful journey in - and Malame (please go to The Wave for 'luxury' sunbeds and food). Overall, this holiday and its peaceful location, couldn't have come at a better time.
