Wife and I stayed here for 10 days from mid to late Feb. We stayed in a Beachfront Monarch Villa.

Our room was wonderful. The resort itself equally so. For the most part the staff was friendly and helpful.

It was all wonderful except for the food. Over the course of 10 days we dined in all the restaurants multiple times. To say we were surprised is a really negative way is an understatement. Without exception the food was, being charitable now, uninspired. When we finally found a day the Wok was open, we had a wonderful meal and felt as though we’d found a bright spot. But alas, when we returned two days later it was astonishingly mediocre. They must have had a guest chef on our first visit.
The food was either bland or WAY too salty. The steakhouse was the worst in the overly salty department but it was pervasive throughout the resort.

But beyond the seasoning, the entirety of the offerings contained in each menu in all restaurants was no better than something one might find in a roadside diner. As I think about it, I’ve been to plenty of better roadside diners.

And to add insult to injury, the menus (which we eagerly studied prior to our arrival) paint a delicious picture of promises ahead. Promises unkept as it turns out.

Given the enormous number of all inclusive in the Caribbean and beyond, we would be foolish to ever return to the Sanctuary Cap Cana.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We won’t be returning.

My husband and I spent a week at this resort celebrating our one year anniversary. Upon our arrival, the staff was more than welcoming and accommodating. Despite the ongoing pandemic, we felt safe as the resort has implemented the appropriate measures. The staff goes above and beyond to engage visitors through scheduled games and events each day. While all of the restaurants were not open during our stay (due to COVID), we always felt like we had a choice for dinner.

We'd like to give a huge shoutout to Happy Boy, Fido, and Carlos for their exceptional customer service. They went our of their way to make us feel at home during our stay.

Overall, we have a wonderful stay at Sanctuary and plan to return this fall!

We went to DR for a full seven days for my sister's wedding celebration. Personally, I was nervous about COVID and the reputation of DR based on recent negative news headlines. We all felt very safe and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure your trip is perfect. The resort is beautiful (online pictures do not do it justice) and the hotel makes sure that everyone is social distancing and wearing masks which we appreciated. There are several things to do besides the beach/pool. There is an amazing spa, several restaurant choices, and many excursions that are available. There is some nice on property shopping and Sanctuary town has more dining options to explore. We had Miquel as our butler and he was so helpful/professional with all of our questions and requests. Carlos and Gilbert took care of our large group (about 30 people) at the pool and we loved their drinks and smiling faces. We loved the resort so much and all of the staff, we will be returning in the near future.

Room tip: We loved staying in the Castle but all rooms are great and have great views

My wife and I decided it was time to get back out into the world again. We figured we'd try a few days somewhere warm and that we hadn't been too. We settled on Sanctuary Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. Couldn't possibly have made a better decision! Upon arrival they immediately sterilized our luggage and had us use the uv light hand sanitizer as well as gel sanitizer. All the staff was wearing masks. That upgraded us to the Royalty Villa because the suite we had originally booked wasn't available at the moment. Such a stunning villa! Beautiful views of the ocean, clean & sanitary, a private pool and tons of private outdoor space. There was even a welcome bottle of champagne with a meat and cheese board and fresh fruit. The upgraded room came with butler service. We weren't sure how we would like it or if we would actually use it but Carlos was a perfect travel companion. He took our vacation to the next level by helping us set up our covid tests, arranging dining reservations, spa treatments, & sending over room service & housekeeping when we needed it. We dined at each of the restaurants at least once and enjoyed room service by our pool a number of times as well. All the food was delicious, room service items came individually packaged, the restaurants had uv and gel sanitizer at the entrances that the staff made sure everyone used. Our spa treatments were wonderful, we get massages fairly frequently so it's hard to impress us but Mireya & Yanet did just that. They are definitely top notch! All in all a perfect get away to escape the winter madness in Chicago.

We had been planning my daughters wedding since February 2020, we didn't start off planning to have it at Sanctuary, but as Covid rules continuously were changing we had to make some decisions. Sanctuary worked with us on everything to earn our business. Evelyn was wonderful to work with , she was there every step of the way and to the very end of our stay. We brought about 37 people to stay for the week. I will say in the beginning there were a few hiccups, but they were immediately resolved and between Evelyn and Andrea the resident manager, they made sure we were taken care of everyday , and went over and beyond to make our stay fun and pleasant. We did stay in the Castle that was beautiful, Miguel was our butler, Miguel went over and above for us, and his service was excellent, which also made our stay very enjoyable. If we return, we will be wanting Miguel as our Butler!. The pool bar was fun and amazing, Carlos the bartender really knows how to make a good drink!! He was also very attentive to our guests needs. I can't remember the pool waitresses name exactly, I think her name was Raynna, she worked hard waiting on us too. Oh and the grill by the pool was awesome too, some of the best burgers, hot dogs and fries. Also, Sanctuary town was so cute, with some nice little eateries(the brick oven pizza was delicious) (make sure to visit), it is part of the resort. Thank you Sanctuary for making my daughter and son in laws wedding and stay memorable! If we we return to Punta Cana in the future we will be sure to stay at Sanctuary!

Room tip: Loved the first floor in the Balcony overlooking the ocean, oversized patio and walk out.
