One of the main reasons I have visited halebidu temple was to understand the amazing temple architecture , it’s absolutely amazing, the intricate details, the quality of the sculptures, the mathematical proportions of each sculpture and the way they did it is unbelievable. There is lot to learn from this temple, each sculpture is a story, this is priceless gift for many many generations to come.
This temple and it’s surroundings must be protected with utmost care and currently they are doing good job but there is lot of room to improve , its easily reachable from Bangalore , there is lot of information about it on the web.
i truly enjoyed this visit and learned a lot.

Again this is a monument that gets overrun by tour groups but still worth a visit. Suggest the best time is in the heat of the day, it's cool inside and quiet.

Halebidu Temple is a 12th Century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is also known as Hoysaleswara temple as Halebidu was the former capital of the Hoysala Empire.

Opposite the Shrine of Lord Shiva there are two large mantaps or halls housing two of the largest monolith nandi statues in India. Nandi is the Great Bill vehicle of Lord Shiva which is an essential part of any Shiva temple.

The entire temple is filled with intricate carvings of Gods , animals and dancing figures with endless ornamental sculpture everywhere making the visitors to the temple awestruck & amazed at the skills of our ancient artists patronized by the Great emperors who ruled India.

This monument is not just a touch and go tourist destination ; but something that deserves a full day's visit with a knowledgeable guide who explains all the intricacies of the landmark temple & it's architecture. I strongly recommend this to all art lovers as government authorised & knowledgeable tourist guides speaking different languages are available to help the enthusiastic tourists. Really a marvel of art & architecture.
