Just stayed at Hollycroft for a third time, and it is still my favorite place for a relaxing holiday. It was very clean, as always, and had everything we needed for a relaxing week. The kitchen was bright and cheerful. It had every kind of kitchen utensil you could want to make a fine meal. The dish-washer, washing machine, oven, stove, and microwave worked perfectly. The heating system was easy to use and kept the house warm and cozy. Internet is lightening -fast; we were able to stream television and movies; no problem. The owners and house keeper are easy to reach, and it is clear to me after coming to Hollycroft for a year and a half that they really keep the house in tip-top shape. Everyone in town is very friendly, and Eynsham has conviently-located shops and services, including a bakery with exceptional Bakewell tarts, and charming local pubs. Hope to visit again, soon!
The appartment was extremely spacious, with a large lounge/dining area, a well appointed kitchen and generous bedrooms. Margaret and her husband were lovely hosts and ensured that the appartment was supplied was with toiletries, coffee/tea, biscuits and chocolates.
I must add that the appartment was spotlessly clean. I do recommend that you organise a stay at No.1 Aysgrath, Llandrindod Wells.
It felt like a home . The local contact was very helpful . Open fire in the kitchen was great . Heating all good.. Clean . The local town and pubs good .
We stayed at Hollycroft for two months while my husband did a sabbatical at Oxford. The location of the house could not be better, away from busy streets while being in the center of the village. Eynsham is a beautiful village with all the conveniences one would need and within easy reach of Oxford. There is a very well maintained playground a few minutes' walk away as well as many good pubs and shops. Definitely a family-friendly town and holiday home.
The home owners are very helpful and respond quickly. They left good, clear information which made arrival and departure seamless.
The house itself is attached to one neighbor and very quiet. We could hear the neighbor's tv in the evening but it was not too loud. There is a garden in the back which is perfect for children. As other reviewers have observed, the house is in need of a little work but none of these things affected our stay, mostly cosmetic. The kitchen is well stocked and spacious and there is a new couch in the sitting room. All of the rooms are good sized.
We did not have any problems with internet in the house, heat or hot water, everything ran very well. As others have mentioned, the beds were extremely comfortable. Cleanliness was the only thing that could have been better, the house just needs a good Spring cleaning.
Given the location, the village and the practical aspects of having a kitchen and garden this is the perfect family holiday home for visits to Oxford or the surrounding areas.
