“Simply a great place to stay!”
Reviewed 30 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We recently spent 4 nights in the Coach House. Warm welcome from Graham, the owner.
The accommodation was lovely and cosy and well equipped. Beautiful tranquil location with superb views across the valley. Such a lot to do in the area - we will certainly be back!

“The Great Escape”
Reviewed 1 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We and our two dogs all enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing week at The Coach House. We found the cottage to be well thought out and equipped, with plenty of windows to enjoy the views out over the Cheviots. The situation is off the beaten track (literally) which makes for a tranquil experience. The owners have put a lot of effort into the outside, with extensive enclosed decking and landscaped grounds beyond. Even though they were away during our stay they made us feel welcome 'remotely'.

For those with dogs (or who just like a stroll) they are various opportunities starting from the cottage. There is more sheltered and all-weather walking along the river at Rothbury and in nearby Cragside estate. And proper hill walking in the Simonside hills. Further afield, Rothbury is centrally situated and we made several visits to the coast via Alnwick.

There is no O2 phone reception at the cottage (a positive!), no Internet, but TV reception is fine. The Co-op in Rothbury can supply most provisions and there are good meals to be had in local pubs.

We had a great time and hope to return.

“The Perfect Retreat”
Reviewed 26 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

For those wanting to 'get away from it all' this is the perfect property. It is situated at the rear of the owners house on a track leading up to the moors. The owners are very welcoming and we found the property very easy to book online. The property consists of a main bed/sitting room, with attached bathroom and kitchen. In addition there is a substantial entrance lobby that also doubles up as a dining area. The property is well maintained and spotlessly clean. The most striking aspect of the cottage is the spectacular views that it affords, looking west towards the cheviot hills and south to Simonside. To make the most of these views the owners have constructed two levels of decking where guests can sit and watch the sunset with a glass of wine in hand. For those who wish to use the cottage as a base, it is well placed for travel to the Northumbrian coast and to Hadrians Wall, in addtion to Alnwick and Morpeth. For us it was the quiet tranquility that made our stay there very special. Will we come back? of course we will - the sooner the better!

“Honeymoon ”
Reviewed 2 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We have just got back from 5 days in an amazing location. The place has stunning views from inside and outside, we spent time sat in the window watching the world go by and then there was views from both decks which are just as amazing. The comment about been overlooked is rubbish the main house is across the lane but the coach house is actually higher on the hill! We hope to stay again soon!
