Beautiful cottage in Ashurst which was a perfect base for the purpose of our stay. We visited Paultons Park and Marwell Zoo. The cottage was fully equipped with everything and more that we needed. I didn't meet David the owner but he was very informative over emails. Would most definitely stay again if I was in that part of the UK.
Really nice cottage in an ideal location for exploring the new forest. Bedrooms are small but well equipped, with very comfortable beds. Kitchen and the conservatory are excellent. The whole cottage was warm and cosy even with hail storms and freezing rain! Good pubs locally with reasonable pub grub, and entertainment.
We came down to the New Forest for a family reunion in Brockenhurst - the cottage was a lovely, relaxing haven to come back to after hectic days of catching up. Didn't get a chance to go to the pub next door - until next time
Clean spacious and well located cottage in the New Forest. Nice bathroom, and main double bedroom is ensuite with a good shower. Well appointed kitchen and lounge which joins a small conservatory.
Access is through the pub car park opposite the cottage to a private area where you can park right outside the front door and which is screened off from the pub by a fence.
Train station is a stone's throw away should you want to visit Southampton, Bournemouth etc and in our 4 night stay never had any issues with being close to a pub or train station.
Pre booked the car ferry from Lymington to the Isle of Wight and visited English Heritages Osborne House which is a really nice day out.
Plenty of nice walks nearby and numerous good pubs to try would definitely stay again at Rufus Cottage.
