“In the heart of the Burren”
Reviewed 2 September 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We just love Fanore. It was our fifth time to stay at Fanore holiday cottages so it almost feels like a home from home. The cottage itself is lovely and cosy with everything you could want.

The surroundings are just beautiful with the spectacular Burren right at the back door! There is an amazing walk along the coastline starting right at the doorstep. There is a lovely, safe big grassed area to the front which is perfect for young children to run around. Our children loved watching the cows and calves right at the back door. There is so much to do in the local area. Fanore beach is fabulous, with a surf school close by. The Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee caves and Doolin all within easy reach. According to our children Vasco restaurant in Fanore is 'the best restaurant in Ireland'! We've done many family holidays in Ireland and Fanore is one we keep going back to. Anne is so lovely and welcoming, I would highly recommend these houses.

We had a great time in the cottage. The views outside of both the Burren and the Ocean. One of the nicest beaches in the world a ten minute walk away. The cottage had everything we needed but most of all the hosts are amazing. Will do just about anything to make your stay a memorable one.

Co. Clare and Fanore in particular is an amazing location, our holiday was made all the more comfortable and enjoyable by staying in Fanore Holiday Cottages which was spacious, very comfortable and clean with amazing views and large garden to entertain the kids.

“Perfect location, really well presented cottage”

We stayed here for a week, with 2 adults and two teenagers, and some visiting guests. The place is beautiful, the view all around stunning. The house was well equipped, even as far as having the turf for the fire (which was used every night, and very nice, despite the excellent weather)
The view from the back of the house is striking Burren Mountainside, with cows in the field, and rabbits running riot. There is a walk that starts from the base of the mountain (beside the cottages), that leads directly up the mountains, and can be followed as far as Ballyvaughan..if you're brave!
There is stunning Burren flora and fauna and archaeological sites on the way over the mountains, with many photo opportunities on the way..(also some llamas, or possibly alpacas, en route!)
To the front of the house is the sea, and a view of the Aran Islands. You do need a car, if only to access the amazing surrounds.
20 minute walk from the beach, a bit longer to the local pub (with rather lovely fish dishes)
The owners were extremely hospitable and welcoming, and are very responsive: our car broke down just as we arrived, and they offered to help us with lifts to shops etc! An Irish welcome at it's best.
I could not recommend this highly enough (as well as being reasonably priced)

“Is there a more beautiful place on a Summer's Day?”

This part of Irleand is beautiful at any time of the year and in any weather but last year Ireland finally got a Summer and we picked the best week of July when temperatures hit 30 degrees (hot by Irish standards) to stay at the beautiful Fanore Holiday Cottages. The cottages are situated between Ballyvaughan and Lisdoonvarna on the Burren Coast Road. From the front there are views over Galway bay where you can watch the sun set and at the back you can walk up into the amazing landscape of the Burren within 5 minutes. Don't forget to say hi to the llamas (seriously).A few minutes drive away is beautiful Fanore Beach where our kids had an amazing time. The cottages are spotless well appointed and equipped with every comfort. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. We have been on many holidays in various countries over the years with our kids and yet they rate this one, 3 hours drive from Dublin, as one of the best we ever had.
