“Excellent holiday cottage”
Reviewed 27 February 2013 for a stay in February 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights as a family group, which included infants, in February. Cots aren't provided but there is ample room in the bedrooms to fit travel cots. The cottage is of a high quality with good facilities and at a very reasonable price. Martin is an excellent host, providing all the information we needed when we arrived - additionally the Welsh cakes and bottle of wine provided when we arrived was a nice touch. The cottage is warm, spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The wifi access comes via the adjoining house so the signal isn't great, but that really is the only very minor issue. All of our group would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to visit this lovely area.

“Fantastic attention to detail and great hosts”
Reviewed 27 January 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We took a chance in January but the weather was a disappointment. At least we got there even through the snow.
The four of us managed a couple of glorious walks along the wonderful beaches of the Gower - dogs were in heaven! Martin and Jamie have restored the barn to a classy but functional space with every convenience. It is perfect for couples with dogs (or two kids)! It would be interesting to see how different it is in summer but then there are so many more people around although Slade remains quiet due to its seclusion.
Good luck for the future - you have worked hard to provide a fabulous holiday let.

“Attractive, high quality barn conversion blending tranquility with a fantastic location”
Reviewed 26 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

It is a beautifully converted barn that has quality furnishings and finishing throughout. 3 main bedrooms all have really high quality ensuite bathrooms. The central cooking, dining and living space is practical, flexible and is homely.
What I love about it is that it is genuinely remote from the hustle and bustle of most of our country yet just a 5 minute walk from a lovely isolated sandy beach (which would ordinarily attract the crowds), a stunning coastal path walk and within 15 minutes drive of some of the greatest surf beaches, views and historic sites in Europe.
Great for: swimming, walking, fishing, running, surfing, windsurfing and just being - great mind and soul therapy.
As a home from home, this for me, is a place I will be coming back to with my family time and time again.
Drawbacks? If you don't like country farmyard smells then bring a clothes peg - when the wind blows from the east (not very often), it can be eye wateringly smelly outside (remains remarkably odour free inside). I am a city dwelling softy, though.
Only other concern was that wifi was occasionally intermittent/weak but, again, I'm used to super fast, super reliable broadband in the city and it's good to have almost anything at the end of this country lane.

“The best self catering cottage we've ever stayed in”

Great location, beautifully converted barn, stylish and comfortable. The main bedroom is stunning - like sleeping in a chapel with double height ceiling and oak beams. Lovely bathrooms, very well equipped (the knives were sharp - always a good sign) and with a log fire to blast away the Gower weather.
Very dog friendly and with fantastic coastal walks and beaches just a short walk away our pup loved it.

“The best UK cottage we have ever stayed in”
Reviewed 28 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Slade Barn is a wonderful converted barn. The facilities and decor are excellent and Martin the owner gave us a great welcome. The accommodation is lovely with wonderful little touches such as top quality bath products so you really feel as though you are in a boutique hotel. The barn itself is walking distance to a stunning remote beach which never gets crowded. We were mostly lucky with the weather but on the colder wetter days it was very cosy. The open plan living area worked very well, and outside the garden and deck are complete sun traps. We have stayed in lots of mediocre cottages in the UK over the years and had begun to think that it would be impossible to find something a bit more contemporary. Thanks for a great holiday
