Pat and Dave who operate the B&B also rent a lovely Gite which we booked. The Gite is clean, comfortable and well equiped. It is slightly inland, but you can be on the beach within a very short driving distance.
The tranquility of the Gite ensures that you are relaxed and well rested, which is what most of us desire from our breaks away from the realities of life. The morning greets you with beautiful bird song and greenary in abundance. We have had the pleasure of observing a number of birds including a wood pecker, the first time I have actually seen one.
The local amenities are also excellent, with a first class restaurant at La Baleine, offering superb quality at reasonable prices.
Gavray, the main village is a lovely place with wonderfully friendly people; it really does take you back to how local communities use to be.
The surrounding areas are small villages and Hamlets, that are beautifully presented. Granville is probably the largest town with great beaches and of course cafe/bars.
You are within driving distance of St-Malo through to The Notmandy Landing Beaches and everything in between.
Don't be fooled, just because you are in this tranquil Oasis doesn't mean you are isolated, there are supermarkets for your everyday needs and a variety of markets going on almost everyday within a short distance and they sell some fantastic goods that are very different....... again a pleasure to experience, so fed up of travelling only to find the same things available.
Of course the food is superb, it is France and the coffee never disappoints
France is a beautiful country and this is the perfect location for explore from
We had very good time in Fownhope.
Host are very nice couple, they host us like family.
The place is quite in country side, we see beautiful nature with cows, sheep, birds, cats and flowers.
Location is just good for us, so we went to Etretat and St. Malo both directions within 3 days.
