Fabulous food, great ambiance, dog friendly, and character surroundings!! We loved it. Landlady and daughter very welcoming and fun, lovely pub full of character but not too crowded. Best fish in the SEast. We broke our journey back from Dorset just to have lunch here. We will be back (with Doolally)!
Many thanks
Prof John

Visited twice for dinner on our recent holiday. Food was fab, the place is lovely and the owner (I assume) was very helpful and accommodating. Agree with other reviews that it is very cold and we had some problems with service on the second visit: a little unhelpful re water for our dog, brought an extra starter, totally forgot about my fries which were then brought out after I’d finished my fish - maybe just a lack of experience but a bit irritating when you keep having to ask. However, we would go back as it is on the whole a great place.

Two couples, who had been to this pub previously, both together and with others 3 or 4 times chose it as a dinner location without the grown up children.

It was suggested when booking to arrive early as they had two larger tables already booked, we arrived before 7pm and were first in.

Lovely Spanish gins whilst we perused the “hot of the press” menus, choices made along with wine (bin 29) we thoroughly enjoyed each and every morsel.

My wife is allergic to fish which is the predominant on the menu and whilst I’m sure they accommodate vegetarian and vegans I don’t recall seeing those options.

We will definitely return.

Nicely set up dining pub with well spaced tables so that you didn't feel hemmed in by other parties. Friendly attentive service and food that made everybody happy. Our party enjoyed an excellent skate dish, tasty lamb scrumpet, traditional fish and chips, and a burger - all were excellent.Other menu choices looked extremely tempting - it took a long time to decide what to have.

Great lunch in a traditional looking pub where the food was out of the ordinary. There was a great range of fresh fish/seafood and delicious looking menu. I had the skate with spring greens and smashed potatoes - you could just tell that the fish was fresh and it was delicious. Hubby had the rabbit (served in several ways - confit, wrapped in bacon) along with black pudding and an assortment of vegetables. We both loved our food and would only criticise the fact that we found it a little salty for our liking (but not salty enough to put us off or send the meal back to the kitchen). We had a gentle welcome and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back!
