We were greeted by the owner who is very friendly and full of all the right information. She took the time to show us round the extremely clean property and explain where everything was. All the rooms are fully equipped with everything you need and more. The village also has everything you need and full of friendly people. I would definitely recommend Beckside Cottage and we will definitely be returning hopefully more than once this year.

“A relaxing stay in a beautiful cottage”

We were looking for somewhere to stay in the lake district for two nights with our youngest daughter while our eldest daughter was on holiday with her grandparents. We didn't want to spend too much but were finding it difficult to find somewhere nice for our budget as the lake district in holiday season is busy and expensive. My husband knows I love quirky features and a cottage feel and found Beckside Cottage which with it's log fire and latch doors is very cosy. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and were made to feel at home straight away. Our youngest is 1 and a half so we brought our own travel cot which fitted in the second bedroom no problem. We were very pleased with our stay and are already planning to return to Beckside Cottage :)

“great place to getaway from the hustle and bustle”

I we (couple and 2 dogs) stayed at Beckside cottage in June 2014 . We were greeted by Nicky when we arrived who was very helpful with all aspects of the cottage and gave suggestions for exploring the surrounding area.
The cottage is very comfortable and well maintained. The furnishings are of good quality especially the beds. We didn't get to use the log burner as weather was too warm!

The dogs were made to feel welcome with their own bowls and towel and biscuit on arrival!
The local pub is dog friendly which was a bonus when eating out in the evening.

Lovely trip was had by all and we will hopefully be back soon!

Liked best: lovely double bedroom with comfy bed . Nice bright bathroom
Liked least: situated near a river so having warm weather there were flies -just had to make sure doors were closed.

“Gem of a house - with attention to detail”

We were a family of 2 adults, 2 children (8 and 13) with dog and Nicky (the owner) met us on arrival and made us very welcome. She showed how everything worked from the woodburner (not used one before) through to using the halogen cooker and what to do in the local area. The house was extremely comfortable and cosy, everything was supplied, from towel for the dog up to pint of milk left in the fridge for a welcome cuppa! The standard of décor and fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard, especially the bedding which was very nice to fall asleep under after a busy day walking and exploring. The shower and bathroom in general, was very good too. Also available were a selection of books and games which was very thoughtful too.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely return.
