The best meal we had in 10 days visiting Lorraine/Alsace. We were staying in the area and went out for a birthday dinner. OK, probably in a little visited town but if you ever pass nearby please call in. A totally unpretentious restaurant but even on a Monday evening it was well filled in a small space of only 20+ covers. After a small taster of a cheese mix (unsure exactly what?) we ordered two set menus at E 28 and E33. Started with a duck fois gras and a " croustillant de fois gras..." in a light deep fried pastry. Both delicious. Then onto a hake and gambas skewer with lobster sauce, and a fillet of beef with morel mushrooms. The plates were dressed beautifully with a mix of vegetables al dente. We finished with a seasonal rhubard tart. The whole meal was excellent from start to finish and a total surprise in this small town to be served such quality food. We finished well fed and at great value. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the bottle of 2012 Riesling wine so much that we went to find the supplier the next day; we were successful and bought several cases! A bargain at E89.30 including wine and coffee. Would certainly visit again.
