I went here for a few hours after visiting Hacienda Napoles, it's not too far from there. I didn't stay at the accommodation, they offer various activities like rock climbing, zip lining, the river is a great place for a swim, there are two areas where most people swim around, both are beautiful, not too busy.

It's a beautiful and amazing place to hike, swim in the river, enjoy nature, and if you're frisky enough, practice extreme sports.

We stayed here two nights as part of a birding trip to Colombia. We stayed in room #83 which is located on the entrance road before the main lodge and dining room. Our room was huge with a nice sized bathroom. There was even a terrace on the top floor that had a coffee maker, mini-fridge stocked with beer and soft drinks. We birded along the entrance road primarily but did also went down the river trail to the Oilbird cave and watch the spectacle of them coming out to feed just at dusk. On that trail we did get great views of the Magdalena Antbird a Colombian Endemic. We heard the Antiquoia Bristle-Tyrant but try as we could we weren't able to locate it high up in the treetop canopy. One of our few misses on this trip. UGH!
The area was very birdy and this is another of the must visit locations for any birder who visits the Magdalena Valley. The dining room service was very prompt and the food quality and quantity were more than adequate. The room had no A/C but during our time there the floor standing fan plus open windows were enough to allow us to sleep peacefully. The beds also came with mosquito netting so there were no worries about any insects. This location which is along the Rio Claro river has rafting, hiking, climbing and zip line activities all coordinated from booths right under the dining room which is located on the 2nd floor and is all open air.

The reserve is a really nice place in the middle of the humid forest. But the amenities in the place are not really good. Also, the personnel does not have a real sense of service. (They did not even knock out door in the refugee). Overall, our stay was fine. A little piece of advice: if you really want to enjoy the river do not go in the rainy season or after it has rain.

We got unlucky to arrive right after the rain and water was not that clean like we expected to see. But we took super fun tour in the cave where we were hiking first for 1 hour and our guide was telling us a bit about nature around but he couldn't speak any english even half of the whole group (25 ppl) were foreigners. Afyer hiking we arrived to the cave where they have some special birds which literally were pooping on our group) Make sure u cover ur body and don't try to go there wearing ur sexy bikini) But the most fun was to stay in eco hotel. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Too much noise from the river and our favorite birds) But it was great trip. Just make sure u know all these info before epecting to be alone and relaxed with nature) No damn way)
