Went Sunday afternoon and the weather was great and we managed to sit outside. Our 18 month old was able to walk around the garden. We ordered from the menu and the food was fantastic the batter was homemade for the chicken and our little one ate it all. The service was good and the new management were friendly. We will be visiting again

We hadn't been to The Plough for years so decided to call in for a meal on a Friday night. The bar and separate restaurant are very pleasant and you can tell that a lot of care and attention has gone into the surroundings. There was a good selection of cask beers in the bar and we were seated by the very friendly staff. The menu was slightly different to what I found on the website but there is a good selection without the menu having too much on it.

Our server did offer me a different 'pie of the day' than I actually received but it was still very tasty. The service could have been a bit quicker and the dessert seemed to take ages to come out, even though I had chosen the cheese board (also very good). All in all it was a pleasant night but improvements could be made.

Read good reviews before.
Had to wait over an hour to be served food - we were second people who ordered yet quite a few customers who were not even there when we ordered were served before us!
Reason given was that they had not prepared enough of their hand made burgers. For a Saturday lunchtime that is very poor.
My pie had a strange taste to it, a bit like powdered milk.
My wife had the Sloppy Joe burger and said it was very good.

Christmas meal. Although the staff were pleasant. Initially we were told the ham terrine was replaced by pate.(shop bought). The prawn cocktail was frozen prawns thrown on a couple of lettuce leaves. Turkey dinner -turkey from some kind of processed turkey. Veg-disgusting-hard brown sprouts, dried up red cabbage, not enough . No extra gravy . Had to ask for cranberry sauce -very small amount offered. Game pie nice but veg the same. Christmas pudding waitress took back . She said custard had separated. Second offering pudding was chewy. Had been microwaved. Cost £21 per person. Heard later-they had lost their chef????
