This was our first trip to Crete and we spent the first 5 days at a resort in Kolymvari, which was ok but not what we were hoping for. So, after looking for a place very near Chania, this hotel popped up and it had really good reviews. We have not been disappointed. The staff here are really, really nice and extremely helpful. Every question we had was cheerfully answered. The rooms are nice, neat and tidy. The bathrooms are small but manageable. The pool is always crystal clear and cool. I really cannot stress how great this little gem of a hotel is. Also we had a room right off to the side, very near the road and it was not noisy at all, some people had commented on this but the room was pretty sound proof. The breakfast buffet is very good with plenty of fresh fruit, veggies and fresh squeezed orange juice!

One week stay in a garden view ground floor room at the rear of the hotel, so nice and peaceful. The hotel is on a busy main road so I imagine front facing rooms best avoided.

Decent, clean room, fairly basic but no complaints. Only problem was failed air con machine but it was a cool location at the back so no big issue.

All staff were excellent throughout our stay. Good buffet breakfast catering for most tastes. Plenty of Scandanavian guests so it was interesting to see different breakfast items including Greek items.

Nice pool, comfy sunbeds unfortuantely hogged by some inconsiderate guests leaving towels on them all day.

Nice beach just 80m away and good access to Chania by regular bus all day, right up to midnight most nights. Excellent fresh fish shop 50m away with purchases cooked that evening by the Orexi taverna next door for a small charge - lovely idea and worked well. The taverna also had Chania brewed craft beer on draught.

We would definitely return to the Yakinthos and Chania. If you want luxury try the 5* places either side but double the price!

Room Tip: rooms away from main road.

This is a small family run hotel with a swimming pool. They do bed and breakfast. You would find it difficult to find a better breakfast anywhere. Huge variety of food available. Some rooms have access to a lift. It is a great hotel with friendly helpful staff who would do anything they could to improve your stay, nothing is too much trouble. It is so clean and tidy everywhere. Could not fault the Hotel in any way .It is only a short walk to a beach on your doorstep or a ten minute walk to another 2 sheltered coves with shallow water and a beautiful sandy beach with beach bars. Plenty of Taverna's within a short walking distance serving a varied choice of food. The local Bus takes you into nearby Chania in about ten minutes a cost of 1.20 euros each way. A guide book is a good buy as you can find lots of things to see and do.

Room Tip: Rooms further away from the main road are quieter
