Let's start off with the location... Not good, not bad. The hotel was about 300 meters from the gorgeous beaches, but it was also on the main road. So, if you happen to get stuck with a room facing the road... the first nights might be a little rough. Their windows don't manage to shut down all the noise... and there is quite some noise at night, from all the traffic (motorists especially).
Now for the room... very basic but everything you need. Bed, drawers, a wardrobe and a fridge in the main room. The TV is basically furniture and the AC was useless during our stay, but it should be noted that it will cost you an extra 5 euros per day if the temperature raises too much for your taste. The bathroom has just enough space to fit the john, a sink and a shower. The shower is something you might not like, depending on previous experiences, it's just a tap and a curtain... but again it's just what you need to get all that nasty sand out from between your toes.
Moving on to food... we had only breakfast during our stay. It is served from 7 30 to 10 00 and imo it was excellent. You get all kinds of fruit, the orange juice is amazing. You have coffee, eggs (boiled, sunny side up and omelette), 3 types of bread, ham and cheese, feta cheese, 2 jams and chocolate, butter, tomatoes, cucumbers... You won't be able to eat 1 piece of everything.
The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool, quite small, and about 10 loungers.

From my previous experiences, I would give this hotel a 9 out of 10. For the money I'd say it is a very good choice.

Hope you enjoyed reading and if you're ever on the lookout for a cheap and good hotel, this would be my recommendation.

We went to the Yakinthos on the recommendation of friends- they did us a favour. As other reviewers quite rightly say the hotel is small and simple but it is spotlessly clean ( cleaned daily, sheets and towels changed frequently) the staff are friendly and the breakfasts are super. The four of us were on the ground floor at the back of the hotel in adjoining rooms (205 and 206), they were both quiet, plenty big enough and one minute from the lovely beach. Wi fi was erratic in the rooms but good in reception which is pleasant to sit in. The bathrooms were fine, Greek plumbing is idiosyncratic but the showers were hot and powerful but have a curtain which means things can get wet. Decoration in the rooms is tasteful, we did need the air con and there is a charge -though we got two rooms for the price of one which reflects the way guests are treated ie you feel you not your money are the priority for the staff. We also hired a safe for two Euros a day but frankly the whole area feels very secure. The pool is small but great if you need to cool off and there were always beds available. We hired a car, 30 euros a day for a smallish car is the going rate. Don't bother if you are only going into Chania, the buses are efficient and if there are four of you a taxi is not much more expensive.
Eating out is a pleasure, it is pub type fare, tasty and very reasonable. Near the hotel our favourite restaurant was the Piato, the local beef dish was terrific and they were generous with the raki but it is as much about atmosphere as the food. In Chania we ate by the harbour side at Zepos, the one which says they don't hassle or pressure you, they don't and the food is good (try the special pizza).
We had a terrific time and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Travelled for 1 week In August with my elderly parents and a friend , couldn't fault anything with the hotel , rooms spotless , greeted on arrival with fresh orange juice , suitcases taken to rooms for us , great selection off food for breakfast all fresh and plentiful ,pool spotless even given bowls of ice cream at the pool, all staff friendly and nothing too much trouble for them ,one of the best Greek hotels I've stayed in . A big thank you to all the staff and the owner who daily asked if everything was ok for making our holiday so relaxing and enjoyable.

Room Tip: 212 looking over the pool

Good hotel, good breakfast, close to some very nice beaches.
You can take a bus for 1.5 euro to Chania daily if you wish to do so.
We found the staff helpful and kind and always eager to answer questions.

We stayed here for 10 days and were not disappointed. The greeting we received when we arrived was lovely with freshly squeezed orange juice given us. We were shown to a large, very clean room with a balcony. We were road side but weren't bothered by traffic noise. The pool area is lovely and quiet with plenty of loungers and tables and chairs. There is a bar for a cheeky drink and the barman was always around providing complimentary fresh fruit in the afternoon, we had ice cream one day too!! Nice touch. All the family work here and all our delightful. The breakfast was gorgeous and plentiful, always being topped up. Alternate days for bacon and sausage, fresh fried eggs and omelette, lots of breads and pastries and continental meats and cheeses. I particularly enjoyed the rice pudding!! Delicious! this hotel is in a perfect location. 2 minutes from a lovely beach with a couple of beach bars. You can turn left or right for numerous very good restaurants. The bus stops right outside for a bus to Chania which takes 15 minutes and is a must, especially old town, you buy tickets from the little supermarket next door, which is fab for buying absolutely anything! Also family run by lovely people. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot fault it. Free wifi worked all over the hotel and around the pool. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
