Brought my sweetheart for a noon picnic. Beautiful view of the lake and legislative building. Green grass and the perfect spot for sun and shade. It was 28 degrees today with a gentle breeze

You can walk all around the lake. It was very nice scenery. There were walking paths all around and lots of green space.

It is hard to separate out the park qua park from the various attraction around Wascana lake. And maybe that is the point. As a park yes it is a large, pleasant urban park. A walk around the lake would be quite a hike. But in addition you could take a tour of the Legislature, visit the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, have lunch at Willow etc. We did all three in a morning (and in to the afternoon with a rather long lunch).

We have been going to the park for many years and it is never a disappointment. Just get a bag of charcoal and some lighter fluid and all the hotdogs, hamburgers and picnic supplies. There are barbecues and picnic tables scattered along the north side of Wascana Lake and plenty of room to run and play football, frisbee, soccer or whatever you like. Just a short drive to the east is Candy Cane Park with swings, slides, sandbox, etc. The Science Center and The IMAX are also along the northside of Wascana Lake. It is peaceful and relaxing and their are people walking, sitting, riding bikes or just cruising around the north and south side of the park. It is also very beautiful on the south side by the Parliament buildings and the awesome flower display across the street at the Parliament building. This is a great visit whether your single, a couple, a family or a group. Enjoy !
