Lots of locals use this park, not as many tourists. Big, spread out more urban park than anything. The Oratory is near the park as is a couple of cool lookouts, called belvederes.

A nice part of the city too, with great views, some old iconic cemeteries also nearby.

Designed by Olmstad in 1876, it has a large cross, a large pond, some trails, lookouts and more.

Worth checking out as part of your day to see the Oratory anyway.

We made the mistake of attempting to explore Mont Royal with a stroller on a hot day. The park is gigantic, so we only saw a small segment. We spent a lot of time pushing our heavy stroller up hill, often over gravel or root-filled paths. I was surprised by all the trash I saw in the park.

We get down the metro at Peel station. Walked north on Peel St. and get to the entrance. My wife had a knee aching before going, so we climb the first steps to Olmsted road, and we took the long walk to 1st candy:Beaver Lake. Large area for picnic, sunbathing, rowing ... .After we left the lake for the 2nd candy:the Belvedere. Stunning view of Montreal and south shore. We walked toward the 3rd candy: the Cross. One of the most known symbol of Montreal. After we get back to the Belvedere where the stairs to get down at Peel St. entrance were. You can figure out 2 to 3 hours for that activity at least or more if you don't wanna leave this magnificent park. You can also climb with your bike.

I walked up the 300 steps in the heat to the top of Mount Royal and around the longer footpath at the top. The view from the top of Montreal was excellent and worth the effort. The café at the top just sold coffee and pastries and only had sparkling water on a hot day. There were some water fountains but hard to fill up a bottle.

A Great Park to visit for peaceful moments and relaxing as well. Great for family gathering as well and a nice couple outing surrounded by nature and different kinds of people having in common the desire to spend great moments with friends and family members... why not a sunbathing moments
Couples, bring your sandwiches your carpet or small chairs and enjoy the view, if it’s Sunday you will experience the best Tam-tam show in Montreal

Cheers to all and always enjoy your Outings
