I'm from Montreal and learned that I knew so very little of its history. This museum is a gem and well worth at least a couple of hours to understand where, when and how Montreal grew.

I have previously been to this museum. I love the new sewer / tunnel.
It was my favorite new addition.

Pointe-à-Callière is one the museum to visit when in Montreal since it offers a lot on its history (including an interactive multimedia presentation at the beginning of the visit (around 20 minutes long). Then depending on what you want to see permanent exhibits and/or temporary ones you will find it has a lot to offer. We went there for the Queens of Egypt which was an amazing experience done on 2 floors. The 1st floor has artifacts, some jewelry, statues, etc... While the 2nd floor offers a lot of sarcophaguses and the explanation of mummification. The exhibit is very interesting and has multiple interactive videos. It is a Must See.

Overall: a fun experience for any age with courteous and friendly staff.

Pointe-à-Callière Museum is a museum of archaeology and history in Old Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I have never been to a museum that uses the walks, flooring and archecture so well. Explore underground from building to building. Amazing.

Great museum for Montreal. Wonderful video about the origins of Montreal . The exhibits are fascinating . Don't miss this museum. If you get hungry, their restaurant is a great place for lunch looking out over the harbor.
