“Great Location”

We booked this condo after a fair bit of research into the area. I had good communication with the owner and his response was always quick. On arrival I collected the keys etc as instructed. We did get a bit lost looking for the condo but a quick call to the owner and we were on our way. The apartment block was very impressive and we were on the 5th floor overlooking the pool with a view of the lake and Toronto Islands.

On entering the condo the space was great, the kitchen area was perfect, the living area was great. The balcony, as stated, overlooked the pool and the lake. There were hand written notes on the coffee table and patio door lock. We found this a bit odd. The notes on the table were giving instructions on what to do on departure and the one on the patio door stated that it was broken and the door should not be fully closed. This was slightly disconcerting. We also could not get the TV channels to work. There was also an issue with the curtain pole, and we were apprehensive about closing the curtains in case the pole fell on us. On emailing the owner, we received a reply the next morning. The patio door could be safely closed, this was an error on the side of his mother who struggled to open and close the door. The owner arranged to come to the condo and contact the cable provider and so the TV was sorted also. The owner informed us he was aware of the issue with the curtain pole and asked if we would like someone to come and fix it, but we were not prepared to give up any time from our holiday and agreed that we would manage with it, but just wanted it noted that we had not broken it. The Miele appliances in the kitchen condo were of high quality. It is such a shame that the owner has not kept the quality of the other fixtures and fittings up to the same standard.

Into the second week of our stay it became apparent there was an issue with the air conditioning. We reported this to the owner and again he replied quickly stating that it may be a building issue but he had reported it to the super who would be coming to check it. As we had plans we could not wait in for the super coming to the condo. We had to speak to reception about the doors to the pool being locked and asked them about the air con, and they confirmed that it was a building issue, so the owner was unable to do anything about this. It did, unfortunately, make for a few uncomfortable nights sleep as it was so hot, even leaving the patio door open overnight did not really help.

We felt it would have been of great help to us if there had been an information folder in the condo, giving instructions on the use of the TV, and kitchen appliances, and also information regarding the condo block as a whole - eg info regarding the gym and pool areas, the recycling rules and regulations etc. Also some local information would be extremely helpful like bus timetables etc.

On to the positives about this condo. The location was ideal for our needs. We could walk into the city in minutes. The Go Bus/Train station was nearby and we made use of this to visit family in Mimico. The ferry terminal for Toronto Islands is a few minutes walk away. There is a Loblaws supermarket across the street along with an LCBO off licence. There are a number of restaurants and bars all within a few minutes walk. The Eaton Centre shopping mall is a 20 minute walk. Many other tourist attractions were also within walking distance, even though we did not visit them as we'd done them before, eg The CN Tower, The Rogers Centre, The Hockey Hall of Fame etc. We walked to the Historic Distillery District in 20 minutes. There is also a hop on/hop off bus tour around the city. The condo also had a residents parking space, an indoor poor and splash pool, and well equipped gym. There was a good supply of towels and bedding.

Overall we would go back the condo and we would recommend it to others. The minor issues we encountered were dealt with by the owner, our security deposit was returned promptly.
