If it is quiet that you want, but close to lots of activity, then South Landing Inn in Queenston is your place. Halfway between Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls is this quiet little town that you would likely miss while driving between these two attactions on the Niagara Parkway. If you see the Brock Memorial, you are very close.
This is a quiet little Inn in a VERY quite little town. Just what we wanted. Don't expect any local entertainment, or restaurants - they are all a short drive away.
The Inn is about 200 years old, but very well kept. The owners and their son take pride in keeping this place clean and well maintained. Their is a selection of rooms, both in the origanial building, and the "newer" one across the street. If you decide to enjoy their $5 breakfast, you will not only get a good meal to start the day, but you will be entertained as well as you hear their stories, and stories of other guests as well.

Room Tip: Excellent view from rooms with balcony

If you want a quiet retreat with the family, this is the right place to be. You are not too close to the Falls just between the Falls and Niagara on the Lake, 15mins drive either way.

Both the cottage and inn are clean and well kept. Nested in the historical area, many of the sites is just a bike ride away.

The owner is very friendly and helpful in many ways.

The South Landing Inn is a wonderful cross between a B & B and a hotel. The owners are very friendly and hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them while enjoying their home cooked breakfast. We stayed for two nights in one of the rooms with a canopy bed and private balcony. We found the room very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for us, away from the hustle and bustle of Niagara Falls, but only a few minutes drive to everything one might wish to see or do. We will definitely stay there again.

Good location midway along the Niagara Parkway if you want a quiet night's sleep yet be close to both Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake. Queenston is a super quiet small village off the beaten track where there's not even a village store, just the local post office (but for how much longer will that remain in operation?) You thus have to drive if you want lunch or dinner. The owners can provide recommendations on where to eat, what to see and where to go locally. South Landing Inn is also very convenient if you like to ride bikes, as we did, either casually or competitively or visit the local wineries, of which there are many. There is also opportunity for a brisk, or casual, morning or evening walk up the hill to the Brock Monument which you will generally find deserted in the early morning or evening except for a few like minded individuals. It takes about 10 minutes to walk and is all uphill (and downhill on the return) but you can drive up in three minutes if you don't want to walk. Also nearby within a couple of minutes walk in the village is one of Canada's oldest print shops and the Laura Secord homestead. Both locations offer tours for which there is a small admission charge.

South Landing Inn is very much a 'Mom & Pop' operation with their adult son pitching in extensively after escaping an adult like in Toronto. Great move! The inn is split into the historic and traditional inn that has some of the rooms and a more modern motel unit across the road. The latter has by far the majority of rooms of varying configurations to suit the number of guests, their length of stay and their preferences. We stayed in the motel unit. Breakfast is individually prepared and served in the office / dining area in the historic inn. Minor breakfast preferences are accommodated but it is a traditional cooked breakfast. The motel unit decoration and condition that we had is pretty standard for this type of facility and is nothing to shout home about. However, if you want a quiet and comfortable night's sleep, the unit is OK. Everything worked as it should.

If there is one downside to the South Landing Inn is that the price was relatively high for the standard of accommodation that we had. Would we stay at South Landing Inn again. Possibly. It is very conveniently located for what we like to do and, if you like riding bikes on paved bike trails, it is right on the Niagara Parkway.

My group of 6 women stayed at South Landing Inn. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. They are decorated in a B&B style. The owners are delightful. We chatted with them over breakfast on several mornings. The rooms are more affordable than staying in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and it is a lovely ride into town.
