“Relaxing Christmas in well-appointed home”
Reviewed 15 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

My family stayed at Marrakech Mansion over Christmas, 2013. Our goal was to simply spend time together as a family under one roof, and indeed, we were able to spent most of our time sprawled out on the various couches doing next-to-nothing. When we felt like going out for a bite or doing some shopping, it was an easy walk to the main street of Niagara-on-the-Lake where most of the shops & restaurants are, or a short drive to wineries in the area.

The booking process was straightforward and quick – Don, the owner, always responded quickly and provided lots of useful information about the house and surrounding area.

Marrakech Mansion itself is a beautiful home with everything you might need or want – in addition to all of the comfortable couches, there are board games, books from all genres, plenty of hot water for our group of 8, fluffy towels, festive Christmas decor, nicely-laundered bedding that you just want to snuggle in, well-equipped kitchen (we cooked our Christmas Day turkey dinner with no problems), snow removal service...and the handy "mud room" to put all of our miscellaneous stuff.

The only comment our group had is that the main bathroom has a sloped ceiling over the tub, so taller people need to be careful not to bump their head when showering.

In short, Marrakech Mansion was the perfect place for our family Christmas, and it would be a great home base for any other larger group visiting the Niagara region.

Thank you for your review, The house was built in about 1860, long before showers were invented! When running water was installed in Niagara on the Lake, one of the bedrooms was converted into a bathroom, at some later date a large tub was installed under the overhang. I installed the shower in that room, and yes I have trouble showering in it as well. We installed the shower stall in the second upstairs bathroom at the same time, tall folks should use it! My wife and I us "The Mansion" as our home away from home and decorate and furnish it the way we enjoy, I am happy that you found it comfortable as well.

One of the great features of Marrakech Mansion is the space. Unlike some property owners in Niagara on the Lake, I refuse to split the property into two housing lots. The property is 109 feet deep and 236 feet wide so affords lots of room for grass, flower gardens and seating areas. If you like the sun, you can sit in it all day. If you like morning sun and afternoon shade that option is there for you. This is our summer home as well so we try to equip. and decorate it the way we enjoy living. I am happy that you enjoyed it as well. I hope to see you back in the future.

Thank you for your comments. Location has to be high on the list of must haves when you are on vacation. On a beach vacation, close to the beach is key. When visiting niagara on the Lake you want to be close to downtown for shopping and dinning and close to the lake and river for boat watching and sunsets. Marrakech Mansion fills the bill on boht counts, 1/2 block to Queens royal park and one block to Queen street in the historical area of Niagara on the Lake.

I am happy to hear that you and your friends enjoyed your stay. The house is perfect for a group get-together with all 4 bedrooms upstairs and a large open main floor with lots of space to enjoy. The location, only 1 block from Queen street and 1/2 block from the river just doesn't get any better. I hope to see you and your friends again.
