Oh my gosh!! We love Mallard Cottage. Our server Andrew was top notch. He explained the menu and specials, answered all of our questions and was so friendly. Our meal was wonderful. We started off with the Salted Cod Tartare....delicious! The menu this evening had two black bear dishes so we ordered one of each. They were both to die for. We highly recommend Mallard Cottage while visiting St Johns.

It was hard to say what I loved most. We ate here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and each meal was fantastic. Local, fresh, full of flavour.
The location of this restaurant is in Quidi Vidi Village, which could not be prettier if it tried and the restaurant itself is in a historic old building which immediately brings the character.
The menu is written daily on the chalkboard and everything we ate we loved. They are notorious for their dessert table, which for $7 you can fill a plate with homemade goodies from cinnamon buns to the best brownies you've ever tasted.

Big expectations. Weren't achieved. Service was good but food was not up to the standard we were led to bellieve it would be.

We took the chef's choice brunch for $25. At 2:30 on a Wednesday in June, it was not a good idea. Not much variety. It was all starches and potato variations, except for eggs. Then there was bacon, sausage and ham, which we don't usually eat. It was not a lot of food. When we asked for toast for our eggs, they were out of bread. When we finally got the biscuits they suggested instead, they were delicious. However, everything was served piecemeal and the food came out one dish at a time. Not a single fruit or vegetable. The quiche and french toast were delicious, but not much of it.

What a treat. A wonderful surprise In Quidi Vidi. Decor interesting and unusual. Food exceptional. Drinks fabulous. I can not say enough nice things about our first meal In St. John’s. We sat at the bar where we could watch the chefs. A treat. We loved our meal Make sure you don’t miss it. Exceptional. And fun too
